Vega Community

share. learn. thrive!

Vega Sport makes some pretty focused products, from Pre-Workout Energizer to Endurance Gel to Performance Protein. Needless to say, the Vega Community also poses some pretty focused questions about the product line. After dipping into our most frequently asked questions, Vega Fans would like to know: “What is Vega Sport Hydrator for?”

Prolonged, heavy exercise, especially when you’re working up a serious sweat, depletes the body of electrolytes. Your body’s electrolytes act as cellular gatekeepers allowing fluid into and out of cells. Electrolytes not only keep your body hydrated, but are also needed for nearly every bodily function, including acid-base balance. When you’re running, electrolytes are necessary to maintain your body’s ability to contract muscles and transmit nerve impulses.

Electrolyte replenishment is critical during endurance events, but may also be needed for a tough workout or exercise on a hot day. Although severe electrolyte depletion is not rampant, it isthe most common cause of muscle cramping. In the case of endurance events, Vega Sport Electrolyte Hydrator can provide electrolyte replenishment in a small amount of liquid as the packet can be poured into any size water bottle needed.

There are lots of sports drinks on the market, but many are loaded with sugar, artificial colorings, and other ingredients your body doesn’t need. Vega Sport Electrolyte Hydrator is a natural, alkaline-forming drink mix, free from sugars or anything artificial and formulated to keep your body hydrated during workouts. Containing all the electrolytes a body needs along with immune system boosting vitamin C, Electrolyte Hydrator can also enhance metabolism and alkalinity as well as providing much needed antioxidant protection. At zero calories per serving, Vega Sport Electrolyte hydrator can also be sipped throughout the day.

I've been reading a lot about electrolyte replacement lately after my first and recent marathon. I started to suffer from heat exhaustion. I was drinking plenty but was likely washing out my salts with water and the Gatorade was probably not enough

I use all the vega products and love them.

I have one question though. Most of the products I have seen have a higher ratio of salt to potassium. Why is vega the opposite. My trainer suggested I should have as much as 500mg of sodium per hour through my sports drink. I also read that having too high a level of potassium can be problematic. I would have to be consuming large quantities of vega hydrator to meet my sodium requirement and taking in a lot of potassium.. I'm training now for ironman so I have to get much more serious about nutrition and hydration. Your feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much!

I LOVE the PomBerry flavor.  I use it every time I run.
