Starting Block - Best Use Of Foot Position

Sprint event comes under track and field events and similar to other events in this event also athletes use different sports equipments. One of the equipment called Starting blocksis used at the beginning of the sprint event. Due to huge competition, starting blocks are coming with new-new techniques and they differ from each other in their unique style.

Proper guidance and continuous practice is needed for each runner to get success with starting blocks. The essential mechanism which is used in starting blocks is a center handrail amid of two wheels or pedals on each side so that every runner can adjust with blocks.

Therefore athletes should learn properly about the blocks and implement proper technique without fail. These blocks can be found at each and every race either it is 100-meter short distance race or relay race of 400-meter. An athlete can win the race within fraction of time if he or she has the proper understanding about usage of starting blocks. Normally, blocks are made out of a thick and solid aluminum spine. It has one pedal on each side with proper adjustment.

One is short pedal and other one is high pedal. If the sprinter will be in the set position then the short pedal will coat top half of the foot only. Whereas high pedal have been the main pedal to start at the international track and field contests because it covers the whole foot.
