Yeah ,the weight has finally started coming off. Just a few pounds but it's happening. Since I last posted some interesting things have occurred. I've lost my cravings for food and for the first time in my life I can tell the difference between when I'm hungry and when I'm just wanting food to satisfy something else. Since I'm mostly full from the high fibre foods I'm eating I have had the pleasure of saying no thanks I'm full. What a feeling! Especially when my husband wants to stop at McDonald's for an ice cream after dinner. I have become very sensitive to the smell of meat. I can no longer go past the meat section of Costco without feeling slightly nauseous. Last year we switched from margarine to butter and now I have quit using both, again because of the smell. My husband agrees with me that since I no longer eat meat, poultry or seafood I no longer have to buy or prepare it for him. Since we are basically empty nesters, sitting down to meals together is no longer that important. We both basically prepare our own meals since we are on different meal time tables. I have also quit grazing which is probably the biggest change I've made to my eating habits. I am basically eating small meals when I'm hungry which is usually three times a day and after that I'm satisfied so I'm not constantly running to the fridge. I still find it hard to eat out as the vegetarian selections at our favourite restaurants are pretty slim. When we have been invited to someone's home for dinner I make a point of not saying anything about my eating habits because I don't want people to obsess over what they are going to make for me. I usually find that there are enough side dishes to work for me and meat is usually a small part of a dinner anyway. One very interesting change I have noticed is how my hair has changed. I have never had great hair but now it feels and looks much healthier and has a thickness that was never there before. I'm not saying that I have all of a sudden started growing more hair, I think it is just feeling the benefits of a healthier diet.
