Amie is a Manhattan-based Culinary Nutritionist, Culinary Marketing Consultant and member of the AADP. She offers her expertise as the Culinary Nutritionist to the NBA Fit Program, which includes writing a column on their official website, called “Healthy Corner”.
What I find intriguing is that Amie actually works as a Marketing and PR Professional by day. Merging the marketing and PR talent she has with her passion for nutrition, most of her free time is then enjoyed as a Culinary Marketing Consultant and author of The Healthy Apple blog.
TheHealthyApple.com is the ultimate guide to clean eating; a valuable source of healthy gluten-free and dairy-free recipes made easy, an online shop for well-priced kitchen supplies and also the platform Amie uses to offer nutritional consulting services.
Here’s a sample of Amie’s specialty services, available through The Healthy Apple:
· Personalized Healthy Menu Planning
· Personal Food Shopping & Supermarket Tours
· Kitchen Ambush & Pantry Makeovers
· Kitchen Cooking Parties & In-Home Demonstrations
Best of all the above, Amie is probably one of the easiest people to connect with. In fact, if you plan to post a recipe on the community in the near future you just may hear from the lovely, Amie Valpone. She often drops her feedback on various recipes; and I know I certainly look forward to it! Since we share the same interests, I was keen to ask her a few questions of my own. Of course, with the intent to share our Q&A with all of you!
The best thing about your job is...
I have many different jobs and they change each and every day; that's what keeps me on my toes and excited about my work. I love working with people to clean up their eating, teaching others to cook and developing tasty alternatives for those who suffer from food allergies/intolerances. I also love working with food and lifestyle companies on branding, marketing and social media. The Healthy Apple is my way of sharing my passion for cooking, baking and healthy living in the Big Apple of NYC.
Reason for blogging:
My mission is To Change the Way People Eat. Feeding People Food – The Way Food was meant to be. Through The Healthy Apple I share balanced, accessible and engaging information on the most basic components of good health. My focus is primarily on natural, whole foods as I believe clean eating is the key to keeping our bodies strong. My approach is to change the world one bite at a time toward clean eating. Each of us has control over what we put into our mouths and these choices impact our bodies now and in the future.
Your last post:
Fresh Grape n' Pear Guacamole. It's a delicious summer-inspired spin on the classic guacamole that can be used as a dip with chips, fruits or veggies, and as a spread on sandwiches!
Top items that are always in your fridge or cupboard:
Gourmet mustard, tofu, fresh herbs/spices, nuts, seeds and vegetables!
What inspires you?
I have struggled with Lactose Intolerance and Gluten Intolerance since I was a young girl – therefore, my meals are always Dairy and Gluten Free – and still delicious! My food intolerances and passion for healthy living are what have inspired me to create my blog, my business and my next career move...The Next Food Network Star? Now I'm really dreaming...
What’s your next goal?
I would love to work for a food/lifestyle company on their marketing, branding and social media outreach as my true passions lie within this industry. I would love to bring together my expertise in marketing, communications, food and nutrition for a company that I am passionate about - to help spread the word and increase awareness.
Before wrapping up, there is one more thing to share…
The oh-so-charming, Amie Valpone made us a video demonstrating how to create her delicious Protein Pancakes!
Check it out:
Who ever put pancakes in the “just on weekends” category has been overruled. This recipe is so easy & nutritious; I’ll be making these pancakes tomorrow - thanks, Amie!
Now, does anyone have a recipe for fruit compote?
