share. learn. thrive!

The night before the beginning of the new me!

I am 43, been diagnosed with essential hypertension, depression and anxiety disorder. I'm a personal trainer that has a "Do as I say, not as I do" philosophy. I grew up wearing a Milwaukee back brace after having 1/2 of my spine fused for scoliosis. Thus, I never got into sports growing up. However, I know there is a different me inside waiting to come out.

I have a very playful and adventurous side that I have done nothing with in so very long. I've been taking the easy way out just sitting around and waiting for the motivation to hit me or for someone else to take care of me. No more! The time to live is now by creating a fully healthy and spectacular life. My new life starts in just 12 hours. I can't wait!

Rebecca so glad to hear you got to meet Brendan in person! I bet you have lots of new ideas. I wanted to share an article that he wrote recently: http://gliving.com/reduce-stress-build-strong-body/. We have an awesome group of poeple here to support you. Keep us posted!

OH! I forgot to add, something that keeps me from getting too frustrated is to remember that this is all an ongoing journey, a process of improvement, there is no end, no destination, because we don't just hit a place where we are then stagnant. Sometimes, I get frustrated, and it feels like I'm falling off the wagon. But there is NO wagon! I look back, and see how incredibly far I have come, and that I am continuing to move forward. I hope this helps

Good luck! It sounds like you've got the right attitude going into this exciting transition. Remember that now matter how your journey unfolds, as long as your heading towards your destination then you're on the right track. I've found this community to be very supportive and incredibly inspiring, so any time you're feeling lost log on and know that you've got a strong support group behind you.

Keep posting! We're all here! Read up on vegan and raw, I have been reading about TONS of people who have cured all kinds of conditions with raw. Without a doubt, my depression has GONE since going high raw in the last few months. That being said, I've also started seeing a therapist (post amazing depression reversal) and he's been helping me gain perspective and new "tools" for addressing my anxiety issues. Without a doubt, the diet change (and end of a relationship gone bad) has put me in a place where I can start taking on other unsatisfactory areas of my life. Make sure that you've got lots of different methods to address your various conditions (diet, exercise, medical support, therapy, whatever YOU need). Rock on!

You are all so wonderful! I had the chance to meet Bredan in person tonight. What a great experience! I've revamped my plan of action. I'm normally an all-or-nothing kind of gal. I'm really going to go back to the Thrive in 30 small changes, 3 per week, for the next month. The rest will be history! Especially if I'm connected to a fabulous group like this!
