The Incredibly Ugly Hulk

1/2 cup pineapple

1/2 cup strawberries

1/2 cup dinosaur/black kale

3 small strips dulse

2 tbsp raw almond butter

1/2 tbsp cacao nibs

2 tbsp EFA oil blend

a dash of agave nectar

1 cup water

 

Blend.  It's ugly, but it's tasty, and it's full of good stuff.

Don't Ask Don't Tell Repealed, now how about Don't Eat That Hemp?

When I inprocessed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord here in the immaculate Pacific Northwest, I had no idea what I was in for.  I'd spent my entire career up to that point fighting to get stationed at home again (I'm a Tacoma boy), and all of a sudden, when I show up, we get a briefing during reception about substance abuse.  The Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), to be precise.  What floored me was that the command had a policy banning soldiers from using products that contained hemp, hemp…

Pancake Attempt #2

This time, I tried the buckwheat pancake recipe.  I didn't have any hemp protein, so I used the Vega replacer instead.  Unfortunately, all I have is the Vanilla Chai flavor, which I mistakenly believed would go well with the cinnamon and nutmeg in the pancakes.  Next time, I'll use the plain kind.  In any case, the pancakes turned out well with a smear of almond butter, a drizzle of agave syrup, and a handful of strawberries.

Toes in the Pool Week

I got turned onto Thrive via another book, Meat is for P******, by veteran hardcore singer, vegetarian, and writer John McGowan.  I was tearing through his book when I noticed he was pushing the Vega supplement pretty hard.  I checked it out, and after testing the flavors, I picked a favorite and rolled with it.  It wasn't until later that I decided to check out Thrive, which I read up to the recipe section within a day or two.  Based on Brendan Brazier's easily digestible (no pun intended)…
