What are the benefits of replacing a meal a day with one serving Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer? There are too many to count as we found out when we reviewed the results of the our recent Nature’s Fare Vega Challenge.
Nature’s Fare is a group of six stores in the beautiful Okanagan region of BC. For two months, 38 of their staff members ditched their regular breakfast or lunch for a serving of the Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer to improve… Continue
To be perfectly honest, I am both empowered and intimidated by the very high caliber of athleticism that is evident amongst the members of Vega Community. However, the inspiration and empowerment far outweighs any insecurity over my own sporadic athletic endeavors. I have been about four full weeks into adopting a healthier "organic whole foods" oriented lifestyle and I Feel Great!. I truly do - however, it is difficult to accurately describe what it is I actually feel. The word that… Continue
That last time I raced was May of 2006. It was the Canadian 50km Championships in Toronto. I won, but haven’t raced since. Not because I haven’t wanted to but because the demands of touring ramped up and have been near-relentless ever since.
However, over the last three years I’ve run consistently, averaging about five runs per week. But I’ve done it for a different reason. I haven’t been concerned with pushing the… Continue
How has a whole month nearly gone by since I first found my way here? I have to say it's been a pretty easy month as far as my eating habits are concerned. I've tried lots of new recipes, improved on my vegetable lasagna, found some new foods like Portabello burgers and successfully faced and won some challenges.
I was concerned about how I would tell my family and friends that I was no longer eating meat but they have all been surprisingly supportive and unquestioning. I've been out… Continue

I've just come out of two back-to-back horse shows over the last two weeks, and have been left with a lot to contemplate. The first show was very small and laid back, and I had planned to move up a height level and get some "miles" before the second, larger show. What's that saying? "When people make plans, God laughs". Oh ya.
My horse took offense to one of the jumps, and every time we entered the ring, he decided to rear and spin, rather than begin the course. When we'd approach… Continue

My recovery is faster than ever. It takes a month to recover from a solo 24 hour, at least in previous years. I've been riding like I just finished a 12 hour. I am so excited!! Thank you Vega for the supps and Brendan for the Thrive book!

I am a forty something married male residing on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Life is good and I can honestly say that I’m healthy and happy, but the weight has slowly crept up on me to the point where I can now notice the impact it has.
I am not sedentary, in fact my wife and I are very active - mountain hiking, cycling, boating and adventure travelling on a regular basis. We also eat a healthy and balanced diet, albiet my portions are likely way too big and it is not a… Continue

After 12 days of switching high fibre fruits, veggies and grain etc for meat, fish, seafood (which I now refer to as flesh) I'm feeling quite confident that I have made a change that is going to stay with me for life. I've had fleeting moments that I wonder if I'm missing a good steak or particularly salmon sashimi but it passes very quickly and I feel very content with my new food choices. For one thing I'm never hungry, actually I'm almost always full and when I do get that hunger feeling it… Continue

Now here’s a question we get regular so it’s a natural fit for our “You Asked” column.
You’ve asked: “Is Vega raw?”
As most of you likely know, to be considered raw, food cannot be heated about 118 degrees. Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer is 30% raw by weight. The primary raw ingredients are hemp at 20g per serving and… Continue
Oh, my poor parents. I say this for many reasons, but in this case it is with respect to my impassioned culinary endeavors I pursued as a kid.
Growing up, each weekend the process was the same: first I would scour my collection of cookbooks and, without fail, choose the most complicated one I could possibly find to tackle. Next came the well-practiced whiny parental nag (pout inclusion dependent upon circumstance) to schlep me to a… Continue
It's now been four days since I made my promise not to eat anything that walks, crawls, flies or swims. I'm amazingly surprised at how easy it's been and how quickly I noticed the effects on my body. I keep wondering if this is going to be a passing phase or has something really clicked in my brain. I really really hope it's the later.
I have always been an in between meal grazer, the evening being the worst time for me. I have always been a little smug that I didn't gain weight from… Continue
