It's a very Vega New Year!

My brother Patrick, his wife Deanna and their three young sons live on a lake in New Hampshire, and the first weekend of the new year my son Liam and I will visit this winter wonderland for a celebration of health,

family and the outdoor life. Snowshoes are piled up by the glass door

overlooking the lake, and the boys’ skates and hockey sticks are in the garage

below, just a dozen yards or so from the rink-sized space Patrick and I have

cleared with the…

Oh, the holly jolly holidays...

Born to Run by Chris McDougall

Hi everyone! I'm loving the book, Born to Run by Chris McDougall http://borntorun.org/. It's about ultra runners and barefoot running. I'm almost finished the book and eager to start training "barefoot" style with the Vivobarefoot shoes: http://www.terraplana.com/  I've run 2 half marathons and I'm thinking about doing another one but in the Vivobarefoot shoes. Has anyone out there run in these shoes? I'd also love…

Goal Number One

What to do…where to go? Those are the thoughts that have been swirling around my mind. After a beautiful full week refresher in California, I have some what sorted out my approach to 2011. I’m not the type that likes to play the game of life by the books. I also am certainly not the sort to settle for meeting half-way or doing something without heart or passion. Hmmm, an interesting dilemma as triathlon has been my life for the last 3 years and I loved every minute…

Going Inwards

I am back on the World Cup Tour, and we are starting off with the first contest this weekend in Ruka, Finland.

I am in a much different place at this time than I was last year. I am having to re-form my goals and deal with my emotions of the Games. I worked for 17 years to stand in the gate with the ability to win a Gold medal at the Olympics, and now that that moment has come and gone, a different path must be laid out.

It has been an interesting journey for me after the Games.… Continue

Biking Tour

I have been riding my bike across Northeast USA from Music Festival to music festivale trying to rid myself of unvegan roomates. I mounted a rack on the bike I have had since 20, a univega. Then I realized I was consuming Vega alone and the topic of iso-foods came to me. So I renamed my bike the "ISOVEGA" and off I went this summer riding backand forth with no navigation or riding partners.

Cape to Boston was my warmer and back getting mileage to learn equipment and rode safety. My…
