How is the Thrive Diet Affecting Your PMS?
Mild to moderate Premenstrual Syndrome - and the mood changes, irritability, clumsiness, weepiness, soreness, and bloating that go with it - is incredibly common, and goes on for years and years.
I'm convinced diet, environmental factors and the stress of modern life aggravate, making it an even greater pain in the backside.
I discovered The Thrive Diet two years ago and…

Spartan Race and Warrior Dash
Just uploaded some crazy yet fun pics from the Toronto Spartan Race that I did in June at Kelso Quarry outside of Toronto. I think what I was saying while running was, Not The Face! Don't Hit The Face!
Awesome.
It's a sprint 5k race with about a dozen obstacles through the quarry. A lot of mud and hills and walls and mud and mud. Did I mention mud? Oh, and barbed wire.
I then went on to do the Warrior Dash in Horseshoe Valley in July,. The WD was just over 5 k…

Hey, My name is Travis Nagata. This is my first blog post to date so be patient. I'm a 28 year old firefighter with the Burnaby Fire Department and i just completed my rookie year. I was lucky enough to make the Burnaby Fire Hockey team and we are on our way, as you probably know, to the 2011 World Police and Fire Games. About 3 years ago i heard that the games would take place in the Big Apple just before the ten year anniversary of the 9/11 incident we will all never forget. It has…

Raw Food Ideas............................
Hey Everyone!
I am 2 weeks in on an all raw diet. It was a gradual transition from a traditional "meat and potatoes" diet, to a no meat diet, then to a raw diet. The transition has been shockingly easy. My body just doesn't seem to want to digest meat. I felt so bogged down. Not only that, I found that my mind and thoughts would become so clouded.
Let me make something perfectly clear..............It's not that I don't think a juicy steak with sauteed…

Question about cramping for cyclists
One of my fitness trainer colleagues - 45, male, in excellent shape - has cycled for years but in his race this past weekend experienced severe cramping several times to the point that he had to fall off his bike and couldn't actually bend his legs for several minutes. He hasn't experienced this before and said it was a normal day, he ate well, slept well. He takes coconut water and has used energy gels and other things (he rhymed off a couple acronyms but now I forget what they are). He…

West Side Classic Road Race Report
I must be honest here and admit that the only reason I did this race was because I was given a free entry. I still have (had?) a very healthy fear of the unknown when it comes to Road Racing and that fear was enough to convince myself that I needed more time to prepare. But with the free entry, I figured that it would be a good experience and something I could use to help my clients if they should chose to road race in the future. I went in with lots of nervous energy and no real game…

Running in Beautiful BC
I’m one of those people who get bored running in the same spot all the time but thankfully there are many different places and trails around Greater Vancouver to head out and get some exercise. Now that we are
only 5 weeks away from going to New York to play in the World Police and Fire Games, I’m trying to run 3 times a week. Taking advantage of the decent (I refuse to say “good”) weather last night, I went for a jog along the…
