Vega Shake & Go Smoothie - Vanilla Almondilla

Hi everyone!

I am here to do a quick review on the new Vega Shake & Go Smoothie in Vanilla Almondilla. As much as I like the Vega concept, I am a major foodie and cannot stomach the other smoothies in this line. Thus, I was hesitant to check out this new smoothie. After reading a couple positive reviews from my favorite food blog (Heather Eats Almond Butter and The Fitnessista), I…

Summer is Here! Yikes!

May was so sweet - I was just chilling, thinking I had all the time in the world... enjoying life. You know - the good things. Then came June. Wham-o!

I was quite productive in May, as it came to racing, which I think has me in good shape right now. I did an epic amount of races, that's for sure:

May 1 - CNC Grand Opening Races (1st)

May 9 - Orienteering Race (1st) ... then a…

Green adjustment

I started the Vega shakes for my morning meals about 1 month ago. I had been on another relatively clean protein powder, but it required additional fiber. When I changed to Vega, I added a small amount of fiber as well as some Amazing Greens, my fruit, flax seed, tahini butter and coconut milk (unsweetened). I was having some trouble keeping food in me (went to the bathroom about 4 or 5 times daily) so I stopped the fiber. Am still having to go at least 3 times a day. 1. Is that normal? 2. I'm… Continue

Food allergies and sensitivities - grief and challenges

Hi !

I would like to know if some of you have a never-ending chain of food allergies and sensitivities. In the past year, I've seen so many doctors, nutritionnists and gave so much blood for tests. These people are all amazing and have helped me alot. So has my family. I'm grateful for everything they said and did. However, they are not in my shoes and no one seems to really understand what I am going through... To make a long story short, I lost alot of weight (and I mean…

Day 1 of forever but 30 f0r now!

Nothing like stating your intentions to assist in keeping your goals.
Some history on me.
Last year I joined my first ever internet community as a member of a weight loss group. Its by a man, Adam Waters. It was great and I lost just over 25 lbs, gained some muscle definition and met some great people.
Over the last 12 months I have mostly maintained that loss but have not really moved forward and need to lose this last 15-20lbs.
Over the past few months…

Missing smoky flavours?

One of the thing I missed the most when giving up meat was smoky flavoured food (read bacon). Where I live it is really hard to get a hold of liquid smoke - and I honestly don't think it is too good for you either. So I figured I'd try one of my favourite teas - Lapsang souchong - which has a strong smoky flavour. It worked perfectly!

I made sunflower burgers of

  • 1 part soaked sunflower seeds
  • 1 part green/carrot juice…

Lessons from a Layoff

I knew that this would be tough. I can't run right now and all I can think about is running...

Some background first: I am a relatively new runner. I ran my first big race last September 2009; the Toronto Scotiabank half-marathon was one of my most favourite days. 3 km into the race, I recall thinking, "I love this sooo much...when can I do it again?". For the first time in my life, I felt like an athlete. I was a runner. And I loved it.

Cut to a…

Breakfast "cookies"

Here's a great recipe I have been using for the last few months. A lot of my clients have tried these and love them!
2-3 Tbsp Almond butter
3-4 Cups Oats (adjust to your liking)

2 Scoops of Vega Health Optimizer (Chocolate would work best)
2 Bananas (chopped into small pieces)
3-4 Handfuls of dates
1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg
