VEGA DAY at the office

Through many offices and day to day stress at work many people forget to eat or have healthy nutrition. For some this can be hard to do with time constrants and everything else going on in our lives! Some of the ladies in my office (and some that I got onto Vega) were intersted in trying it out. So this past week I incorperated VEGA DAY over the lunch hour on Wednesday! I shook up our brand new Shake and Go Mango Tango, Choc A late and Almond vanilla, Sport Optimizer and Vibrancy Bars! The…

My thrive fitness month - days 24-28

It’s been a hard week. My workout are getting tougher. I started to use a 8kg dumbbell in each hand.

I didn’t do so much aerobic in the past week for 2 main reasons:

During my day I usually walk a lot. Especially this week, I had a lot of arrangement and I walked a lot and also rode my bicycle a lot. Two days ago I took my bicycle to the shop. I have some problem with them and I think that I don’t going to have them in about a week.

I felt kind of stress in my knees… Continue

nutritional content of Thrive diets Homemade energy bars

Hi, I am training for my first Ironman Triathlon and would like to use the energy bars and gels for training and racing. I was just hoping to get more detail of the nutritional breakdown, in particular Carbohydrate, Protein and Fat content, in the energy bars in your book The Thrive Diet. This will help me gage how many bars, and how frequently to eat. I particularly use the Mango coconut and Chocolate blueberry enery bars.

I also would like some hints on how to liquify dates…

Agave nectar as fuel

Thanks for the paradigm shift...I was, in fact, using and viewing it as a healthy sweetener.

Getting Kids to eat their veggies

A common comment that I receive when people see my daughter eating her vegetables is:

“wow! How did you get her to eat those veggies?!”

My first response, well – I give them to her! And I have always given them to her, from 6 months…

Hawaii Vega's Say Here :D

Just wanted to make some local connections. I'm finding Hawaii people here and there. That's so awesome. I thought we could at least get to know each other here first and maybe one day get together and hang out. Also, if anyone else from Vega Community comes to visit we can welcome them.

No pressure. Just casual socialization here first...share eateries, spots, etc. and some local events too. Get creative.

God Bless,
Jeri

Going at the speed of Vega

It’s all about the scheduling, dude.

Some days, I’m going in so many directions at once it looks like a platoon of guys wearing cargo shorts and fleece sweatshirts. As a rugby player, outdoor enthusiast, college professor, youth hockey coach and single dad who’s committed to a performance-based vegan diet, I have to plan my days with the exactitude of a NASA scientist just to fit everything in. I like to “cook fast” and “eat slowly” and have developed a few strategies that are worth… Continue

Lowering cholesterol Levels

Hello, I am wondering what can be done to lower chloesterol levels. My Mother recently went to the doctor for some blood tests, and the doctor informed her that her cholesterol levels where high and she need to take the dreaded Lipitor. I have read the side effects and such about this drug and both she and I agree that she needs to try somthing else. She called to the doctor back to ask for her levels and he refused to give them to her for the reason that shes not a doctor and…

Kicking the Coffee - Oh boy :D

Short blog to share the Teeccino website. This product really tastes good and comes in a variety of flavors. It is made from grain so it's good for you! I had to use less than they ask for in the directions - too strong for me. Totally caffeine free so you can drink it at night too. They have teas as well.

Under the tab "Building Optimal Health" they have a 21 day Optimal Energy Challenge to help wean off of coffee. It's a really cool and gradual… Continue
