Balance

I was reading a blog that I really enjoy today, www.lovelyandimperfect.squarspace.com and she was asking what we enjoy about spring.  My response just came flowing out. I’m ready for spring. I love spring! Not too hot, not too cold. I can’t wait to take my journal back out to the patio while sipping on coffee. Can’t wait for all my flowers to start to bloom again, such an array of color. I just love spring. The beautiful warmer days…

It only hurts when I laugh

Less than two months to go before the Test of Metal. I'm fine tuning my sleep patterns (when I can), hydrating every time I think about it, mixing longer training runs (for endurance) with shorter, more intense, higher-gear bursts. I mostly start my day off with a smoothie of fruit, Vega Sport Protein, MacaSure, and Chlorella, switching up with Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer occasionally.

While my diet has slowly been migrating to more veggie and fruit-centric, the longer and harder…

Day One

So today was my first day of truly starting to eliminate soy, egg and milk completely from my diet and whew was it tough!  Although I've been gluten free for a year and a half now, and vegetarian for a month or two, I'm really doing this.  Excited for this new phase in my life, I know there will be set backs, disappointments and even some failures but in the end, I'll end up healthier than ever, and for that I can hardly contain my excitement.

I discovered the Thrive diet book…

Soy Free

So, i've been reading many many bad things about soy. Now, there's a good chance, these are over exaggerated, but I still feel there must be some truth behind it.

I've decided to go Soy-Free for a month, and see the difference:) I"ve been doing lots of recipes from Thrive, and taking lots of vega products! The sunflower/beat pizza is rediculously good. I add red lentils to it to further increase the protein in it:)

Start a compost in honor of Earth Day

Earth Day, Friday April 22, is the largest, most celebrated environmental event worldwide. It’s a day where we should stop thinking about making our daily habits more eco-friendly, and actually do them. It’s a great time to start something new and reduce your own carbon footprint by starting your own compost.

Composting is a natural decaying process involving millions of micro-organisms which transforms garden clippings, leftover food scraps, leaves, etc. into rich organic…

I myself am not a vegan and was amazed at the possibilities and deliciousness of their varied diet! I was so inspired by their cooking that someone gave me a veggie/vegan cookbook! I hadn’t eaten this good in a while! I managed to get a few recipes from them including my favorite below. I have made it while camping 3 times since, each time improving on the other.
