Plant a seed, watch it grow, feed it, water it, talk positive, be patient and in the end there will be a GREEN vegetable ready to harvest. Planting a garden is like fitness. When a person first begins they are typically overweight, negative, frustrated for not seeing immediate results and quit. You must start slowly, be patient, feed your body nutrient full foods, hydrate, reward yourself for your little successes, and in the end your body will shine and thrive like never…

The First Step You Took in Going Meatless
Many interested in starting the road to decreasing or eliminating animal products have asked me this question. So, I thought I'd pose the question to you all and share with them your first step(s).
They all say they don't want to read a novel. For example, if you gave up red meat...if you started with just one meal...when you chose the first thing you'd give up, did you give it up cold turkey or little at a time?
Can't wait to read your answers. Thank you so…

Real Simple Food-ism
It's a challenge growing up in North-America and deciding what to eat. We are one of the few cultures around the world that do not have a definable "food culture" or "norm". Instead since the introduction of "nutrition" and "nutritionism" in the mid 20th century we have become a neurotic culture fragmented into an every increasing array of "food-isms" way too cerebrally driven and obsessed with understanding and choosing our food with our brains instead of our biology.
We…

I've rarely had an issue with cramping - that was before my longest-yet training ride today. Relentless climbing, with few plateaus to recover.
I tried brine in my hydration regime, loaded up with my usual Sport Optimizer, and even hoovered a couple of Whole Food Energy Bars, but didn't carb up last night - big mistake.
Check out the route and comments here...…

I feel as though when one area of my life is coming into focus others are falling by the wayside. Do you have to prioritize or can you really have it all? Do it all? See it all? Be it all?

How I Attract Vitality
The method I use for mental Spring cleaning is quite simple: I go off-line. For a week.
Now this takes quite a bit of gumption as for me it's a source of income (I do graphic design). However, aside from it being money in my pocket, it's a source of communication, education, and relaxation. I also converse with friends about politics, plan events, and (these days) regularly inform my family that I'm fine (I live in Gifu, Japan).
But the Internet, as everyone…

How I attract vitality
I don't. I can honestly say I repel vitality. I'm a full-time single parent to 2 gorgeous school aged kids, that's a f/t job all by itself. Add to that being a f/t student for the last 18-months, 2 p/t min. wage jobs, while maintaining an almost perfect 4.33 GPA and commuting 4-hrs per day to get to school in the first place. I wasn't sleeping or exercising, I was drinking coffee, eating pizza-bagels and studying all night. That is not a recipe for vitality it's a recipe for stressed…

While last night's YogaSport class was one of the more intensive ones I've been to, my muscles were burning far earlier and far more than usual. I hydrated all day yesterday, drinking teas, and even Sport Optimizer in the afternoon. That said, I had very little (no) food before the 7:30 pm class.
It may have had something to do with the fact that I had a very intensive mountain bike climb a few days ago, where I worked so long and hard, my glutes ached like never…

Goals for 2011
Well, the first three months of 2011 have slipped right by!
It's been another good snow year. And a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.
This year, I've decided is an "action year"...that means I take action on some goals I have been mulling over for a couple of years.
One, to take my business to the next level. I've been blessed to create hats purchased by savvy retailers on the California coast. And in an effort…

How Vega Sarah Attracts Vitality
For the month of March I have been focusing on attracting vitality. So I am going to give you a very simple tip on how you can attract vitality in a busy lifestyle. I am going to break it down into various steps, making it easy to follow!
1. Turn of lights, facebook, twitter, laptop, ipod, t.v, radio, and electronic devices (this insures that you are far far away from all the sound and noise of the outside world)
2. Open up a window
3. Let the sun shine in,…
