How did you discover Vega?
While training for my first half marathon last year, I needed more nutrients for proper recovery. I saw an ad for *gasp* Greens Smoothie but luckily the vitamin girl at the store steered me in the direction of Vega Smoothie Infusion. Since then I've moved onto the rest of the Vega product line!!
Tell us a little more about yourself
I'm just your average thirty-something accountant.. . I train for marathons, enjoy bikram yoga, and spinning classes.

I'm vegetarian for health & animal rights issues but I'm not super strict on my diet (chocolate & chips sneak in once in a while!)

In additon to all that, I like to go camping, hiking, trail biking, Tennis and snowboarding.. . LOVE snowboarding!!!

Oh yes, and I did a brief stint working in the accounting department here at Sequal :)

Training time again?!

This is me and Joe during our first half marathon together last year. 3kms into the race, my IT band tightened and I knew I was done. Determined to finish, we managed to have a good time on the way and the photographers loved us. Technically, I didn't finish, cuz as you can see my foot never actually crossed the finish line!!

We've done 2 half marathons this year, and after the last one in… Continue

My Vegetarian Journey

It's been 2 months since I became fully vegetarian. I went through a lightheaded phase which I still go through once in a while (first thing in the morning or when i lower my head), but it's definitely subsided to a manageable state.

Since i'm determined to get the lightheadedness under control, i've been adding a variety of foods in my diet. People think since you're vegetarian there's not alot of food choices but it's just the… Continue

Memphis - home of every kind of BBQ'd meat item imaginable.. .

Texas Brazilian Steakhouse. This is one of those restaurants that cater to carnivors. Waiters come around totting swords of various types of meats. There's a little card on your table that says "yes" or "no", so they know whether you want more. And yes, it's an all you can eat.

This is my second time going to Memphis and i've eaten here both times. Although the meat aspect would be the more common reason for going there, their… Continue

Week 1 of my Vega-tarian challenge

So far so good. Okay, I admit, I almost had a breakdown tonight when Joe presented a platter of sushi for dinner. I mean, the essense of sushi is based on yummy, fresh, raw seafood, and eating a cucumber roll just doesn't cut it. I was tempted to taste a soft morsel of tuna but I held back and stood my ground. Cucumber rolls will just have to suffice.

The past weekend was Mother's day, which was held at our house. It was nice out so we had a BBQ, which is good because my family likes… Continue

My own Vega-n challenge!

Inspired by everyone's Vegan challenge, I've decided to tweak my own diet. Currently I woud classify myself as a vegetarian who eats seafood. I've been like this for over a year and have done it for animal rights reasons. I've wanted to take it the whole way and go fully vegetarian but being the main cook at my house, it's been tough trying to organize meals for me, my significant other (Joe), and my step daughter (Micky). She's a standard 12 year old who doesn't like eating her vegetables, and… Continue

Thanks Stelle! My boyfriend and I just bought this house too! I wanted to try growing plants by seeds, but I think I killed all of them. I would love to start an herb garden this year too! What herbs are you growing? I'll be updating my pictures as it starts to grow.

Hi Stelle, I was commenting back to Kelly and I notice your pool running question. I have done pool running before to deal with an injury. what you need to do is go to a swimming store and find a belt for running in the pool. It looks like a prize fighters chapionship belt only it is made up of blue foam that keeps you afloat while running, so you don't need to know how to swim, then head to the deep end and just run. Your motion will move you through the water, when I was doing it I would just run in a square, your feet don't touch the ground. It looks odd, feels odd but it is great resistance on the body and a good work out. I hope that helps, sorry to bug you. Rob.

That still an awesome time! You should be proud. I haven't officially started my training yet. I do swimming lessons ever Friday and squeeze in a bike or run where I can. About 10 weeks out. I'll start following a training schedule. Yikes, that's only a couple weeks away!
