HI Nat, I have a few other suggestions that could be beneficial, but depends on what medical attention/advice you've received. A BMI of 15 is pretty low. what exactly is your medical team/dietitian…

Both of those areas are fine (Burnaby & Lougheed) but you definitely want to make sure you are close to a skytrain to get around easier. Things are also bigger in those areas, so not as easy to walk as it takes longer to get to everything. I like be…

Anywhere along commercial Drive is the closest you'll get to being right downtown, but not so far away from your job. This area is very lively - lots of cafes, pubs, lounges, just not as many night clubs if that's what you're looking for. The people…

Hey Everyone,I"m moving to the Vancouver area soon. I'll be working in Coquitlam, sort of near the Lougheed Town Centre. I want to live in a lively area, easy access to public transportation, cafes, bars, etc. (basically, not the burbs). If anyone ha…

Hey this is really close to the fight, but dehydrating and carb depleting can really help cut weight. I can generally put most of this back on over night if I hydrate and drink tonnes of fluids...This is somethign I'd recommend practicing though be…

Oh, my. The second I read "Snapple" I thought, "Liquid sugar!" I know myself well enough to realize that, for me, it's never an "it's just." "It's just a little bit of sugar in my coffee" (the thing I had to resist this morning) easily becomes, "We…

Ya, that's what I was getting at! The detoxing probably is making you tired...especially if you started out right away with a full serving of it! IMO, I'd leave out any "milk" form the optimizer..its such a great product on its own! BUT, I would tr…

Ya, I'd probably just have it with water. rather than soy milk. Almond milk is okay, but still has sugar in it (usually). The sleepiness could just be your body getting used to it. Especially if you're replacing vega with somethign you used to have…

I find Veggies and/or nuts are satiating as a snack. I do a 1/2 seving of WFO with almonds sometimes as a snack... best thing to do that you dont' have to think about it to plan ahead. You should try to have a structured meal plan, so you aren't ju…

Hey, I do high intensity training fairly often. I don't do it twice a day though. That is A LOT of training! Anyways, with your workout regimen, you're bound to get fatigued and burned out eventually. If its consistently though, perhaps you aren't…

How did you discover Vega?
I was in a health food store, and the guy working there was a raw foodist. He recommended it to me. I bought Brendan's Thrive book and brought home a jug of berry flavored vega. One drink and I was hooked!
Tell us a little more about yourself
Hey everyone, my name is Sam. I've been vegan for about 4 years now! I'm a performance and wellness coach in London Ontario and soon to be physiotherapist (got the degree just have to pass my upcoming licensing exam)

I've always been passionate about health and fitness. As a vegan athlete who is always on the go, Vega has been a great addition to my diet! I do all sorts of activities. I'm mostly involved with running and weightlifting. I also love rock climbing, playing soccer, and racquet sports.

Recently, I've begun taking Acro Lessons and have been doing a lot more H.I.T Training. I'm starting to be able to walk and my hands, and can almost do handstand pushups (not against a wall)

Another HIT blog!

So, by now, you might know that I love doing complex barbell lifts paired with cardio and functional exercises. Here's a workout I did today.

Dynamic warmup x 10 minutes...

Tire Jumps/Pushups/Push Press/Stability Ball Burpees/Pullups
Do 10 of each, than 9, 8, 7..down to 1...
Followed by:
Tire Jumps/Pushups (close Grip)/Hang Cleans/stability ball pikes/Chin Ups
Same thing, but starting at 1, and counting up until 10.
Time about 40 mins

Try it ou… Continue

The two words that are preventing you from reaching your health goals

I was at a friend's house the other day and I had a mini epiphany. I had helped her rehabilitate from an injury she sustained over a year ago. She continued training with me, but despite 'following' my nutrition advice, had not lost weight.

When I came over, it was about 8:30 at night, and she was polishing off a snapple before her dinner. I asked her whey she didnt' have rice in here while her fiance did. Her response was "you told me not have cabrs this late". I was quick to remind h… Continue

H.I.T

So, I've been doing more High Intensity Training--in groups. Its kickass. I always thought I pushed myself hard, but the group environment really helps me push up.

My Old style of training was sort of bodybuilding workouts and higher intensity cardio on off days.

Lately, I've been combing Olympic lifts and powerlifting lifts with high intensity cardio and other full body movements. Overall, I think this is making me a much better athlete.

Here are a couple exampl… Continue

Hey Sam,
Finally got a chance to give it a try today (well, partially). Made a few adaptations - for example I don't have the proper set-up for the glute/ham raises, but I think even if I did I'm not sure I'm strong enough to do them. Lol. And I'm guessing for the seated row sprint/rest exercise you meant cable row, but I decided to do it on the rowing machine. And that's where I stopped today because I ran out of time. I'm looking forward to completing the whole workout on Friday. Definitely got a good sweat on with just the exercises I did get done.
Thanks!
