XTerra Winter Nationals 2012 - Canmore Nordic Centre - AB

Hi folks,

Just wanted to spread the good news that I had a successful title defense with an early season tester at the Canmore Winter Meltdown triathlon this past weekend. This event had some extra incentive this year since it is now doubling as the XTerra Winter Triathlon Nationals.

BC mtb trip - Crankworx XC and Gearjammer XC

Whistler always has the best mtb courses and this year's Crankworx 'toonie' xc was no exception with a big climb heading up Blackcomb Mtn which included a trip up the Olympic bobsled track! The course headed up further with some more climbing after that and came down on some prime singletrack which was slightly treacherous with steep rock slabs and some small drops with slick conditions from heavy rains earlier in the week.

XTerra Fortaleza Brazil, Insano!!!

Had a fine trip to Brasil last weekend for the Brasil XTerra series finale, a new venue at the Beach Park in Fortaleza.

With delays the trip down there amounted to a 37 hour clocking, which let me tell you is not pleasant spending a day and a half in airports and airplanes. Arriving at the hotel at 9 pm on race eve would have been alright, but there was one slight problem... my luggage didn't make it to Brazil and I had a race next day at 8 in the morning!!

XTerra Nationals in Whistler - 2nd place overall and first Canadian!

Hi all,

My big race was last weekend, the XTerra Canadian National Championships in Whistler.

Having not seen the pro guys since World's in Maui last October it had me wondering how I'd stack up against some of the heavy hitters of XTerra. But whatever the outcome, I knew my fitness is decent and with this one on my home course over the rugged Whistler trails I was eager to have at it. Racing update - August 2010

Racing update - after moving to the flatlands in Edmonton and starting full time work in a physical job 3 months ago I figured I'd be ready for an early racing retirement. Well, maybe not yet! Last week I went over to BC for a quick trip and convincingly won the SRAM sponsored Crankworx Toonie mtb race in Whistler and then whipped back in time for XTerra Alberta in Canmore which I won by over 10 minutes!
