The conditions couldn't have been worse at this year's Test of Metal (mountain bike race) in Squamish this past weekend. The rain was absolutely torrential and with 873 racers forging their way through the unrelenting 67 km war zone, the mud was stirred up like wet concrete through most of the course.

Brendan Brazier stopped by the new Vega offices yesterday and spent some time talking with the Team Vega Tough Mudder team (see photo below) about nutritional and physical prep for our training.
We captured the whole thing on video and will be including it as part of a video series we're creating of the fun (and hard training) as we prep for the big day of competition in Whistler - June 23.

So I'm signed up for my second Test of Metal - I completed last year's 67 kilometres of mountain ruggedness in 5 1/2 hours last year - happening this June 16 in Squamish, BC.
The thing is, I've also just signed up to be part of Team Vega to compete in the Tough Mudder competition the following week (http://toughmudder.com/).

There's a little over a week left before my first mountain bike race - the 67 km Test of Metal. Since my last post, I've broken two ribs and have been trying to lay low enough to recover, while still trying to keep my endurance up for what will inevitably be a 5 hour (or more) race.
I was told by the doc to stay off the trails for a few weeks in case I spill again and do more damage, so the last two weeks have seen me doing LOTS of climbing on paved roads to build muscle…Continue
