Tell us a little more about yourself
As a yoga instructor and full-time athlete my days are pretty busy. I also regularly coach younger athletes and facilitate various programs and workshops on nutrition and holistic health.

I have always been very conscious of how I nourish my body and have been a vegetarian for over 10 years - it was rough going for awhile as it was so hard to find appropriate "fuel" as a vegetarian athlete. Not anymore!

I am truly happy that I found Vega and so proud to be a Vega Ambassador!!!

Vega Sport Usage in Training

Hi everyone!

So I thought I would post something about my experience with the new sport line - especially since I train and compete in a non-endurance based sport and I know that a lot of the info on here is based on endurance.

Overall, my training program challenges various energy systems on a daily basis - from HIIT to long  plyometric sessions, timed muscle conditioning, short or long runs, bursts of all out strength and power followed by short rest periods, etc. It could be…

My Love Affair With Dairy-It Must End Now!

OK so I have to come clean about my love for dairy. Trust me - I am not proud of it. It started when I was very young - along with most everyone I am sure. And it has never gone away.

Actually, at this point its just yogurt, kefir and cottage cheese. Sigh. Powerful stuff.

Really, it's not the taste or fat content b/c I only like plain - yep plain, low-fat dairy - I think it's the texture. I love the thick, creamy consistency of a bowl… Continue

Competition Nutrition

Hi everyone!

I recently returned from the Women's PanAm Boxing Championships held in Guayaquil, Ecuador in early October.

Kelly thought a blog post would be a great idea so I thought I would write about nutrition tips during competitions - especially those on a different continent - because being unprepared can be very costly (I speak from experience here :) )

I realize that some of this info is a no-brainer for seasoned competitors but I thought would post some important… Continue

Hey Jacqueline, That sounds awesome. So cool you get to travel around the world. I bet you have had some awesome experiances huh? And as for myself, yes I do have an off season. And mine is ending at the end of this month. I usually take it pretty easy during Oct. (Except this October I decided to do a half Marathon and a 100km bike race). And now I start back in November on my base. And yes, I pretty much train all year round, but still give myself some small periods of downtime... As for my next event. I have a 10km running race in Niagara Falls. And that should be it... Then I won't have anything until the around the bay 30km race next year.
