Save the scoops and when next spring/summer rolls around, use them to sprout seeds for your garden (if you have one) or donate them to any local flower nursery for the same purpose.

I've heard about cooking greens in order to receive the full nutrient benefit. I personally do not believe that. I can feel a difference in my body when it comes to cooked vs raw greens. I am not 100% raw but love my greens raw. One of my favorite…

If you really want to loose weight going raw would be the best choice, and focusing more on cardio instead of weights. If going raw is too difficult, cut out the four white evils which are dairy, salt, sugar, and wheat (of all kinds including whole)…

I have ben vegetarian for 16 years. I would recommend everyone that everyone read this article on b12. It is easy to get via vegan supplements but it is essential that one does get enough B12: http://www.veganhealth.org/b12/ excerpts: "Brewer's and…

Post-workout would be all about re-building. You want something easy to digest - not heavy on fiber, fat or protein, mostly carbs. I asked a buddy of mine who is training for a marathon and her post workout smoothie always includes bananas (plural)…

What kind of smoothies would anyone recommend as breakfast/lunch smoothie versus a smoothie post work out? Should there be a difference?

Hi Anndrea, I've had similar experiences with working my butt off and not getting results. I found that shocking the body has helped. By shocking I mean drastically changing things. I first added weights and the fat started melting, then all of a s…

Hi Anndrea, I am also in the weight loss mode myself and have finally found what works for me. I had the same problems before, I was crashing, running out of energy and overall, not doing so well, not to mention, my weight wasn't going down. I weig…

This may be too "hoity toity" for you but, I understand that eggs are considered "grounding" and I think that bread and pasta can be too (but in a way that numbs a person) you said: "I start to crash and feel tried and crappy. Then I go back to havi…

Tell us a little more about yourself
I have been a vegetarian for two years. I am slowly on the path of becoming a full vegan. I am already allergic to dairy, so that ended up working in my favor.

I am a true believer of whole foods. What we put into our body directly affects us physically as well as psychologically.

Hey Anndrea!!
Okay I finally put pics up of my so-called garden.. . it's a little sad lol!! My green leaf lettuce is so big that i'm just gonna give it to my brother's rabbits.. . the tomato plant that has its own tomatoes is store-bought, the ones in the garden are from seed. Next year i'm not gonna grow as much lettuce lol!!

Here are my two smoothie recipes. Fair warning, they are more meant for nurishment than they are meant to taste good.

My morning smoothie ingredients are: frozen blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, 30g of pure hemp protein, 15g of ground flaxseed, 7.5ml EFA oil (not vega's but one I made myself) and 100% pure orange jus. Also whenever I have it, I freeze pure 100% cranberry juice into ice cubes with water 1:3 and throw one of those in there.

My afternoon smoothie before my workout looks like this: frozen mango, banana, pineapple, papaya, 30g of pure hemp protein, 15g of ground flaxseed, 7.5ml of coconut oil and 100% pure orange jus.

I try to make each smoothie about 600ml which tends to fill me up just right. Some people say different things about smoothies , when to have them and what to put in them, but I just treat mine like meals and drink plenty of water during the day. I hope this helps and good luck on finding that smoothie that is just right for you. Oh! Almost forgot, I buy all my fruit from local farmers at the markets in Montreal and freeze them myself, it gets difficult in the winter, but I manage.

Try to have as much fun finding your favorite smoothie combination, its took awhile for me and much experimenting, but now I have a meal I look forward to having everyday.

Sweet we can learn how to garden together lol!! I'll take some pics this w.end and post them up, but it's pretty SAD. We live in a townhouse so there's really not much gardening area. The plants I tried from seed were tomatoes, lettuce, parsley, and chives. The lettuce was super easy to grow, tomatoes took forever (hoping for a late season harvest!), chives never grew once transplanted and parsley didn't end up growing at all. My mom gave me some plants + we bought some so it doesn't look too sparse. Definitely a learning experience!!
