September Thrive Challenge

Inspired by the lifestyle changes recommended in Thrive and Thrive in 30, the Vega Community is here to keep you on track, share in your successes, and inspire even greater change to help you achieve optimal health.

Summer has come to a winding halt, and now, it’s back to the routine. We want you to Thrive in whatever it is you’re doing – whether it's work or class – and what better way to do that than getting up earlier and eating breakfast? We think it’s a good start anyway...

This month, we challenge you to compare how your everyday breakfast measures up to only one single serving of Vega’s Complete Whole Food Health Optimizer; using our NEW online Breakfast Nutrition Calculator.

What makes Whole Food Health Optimizer so special compared to other breakfasts? Just in case you forgot... it’s 100% plant-based, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy free and it’s super low in calories! Only one single serving guarantees 100% of your daily vitamins and minerals AND 60% daily intake of fibre, all while promoting healthy weight loss and optimal health.

Your challenge this month: Bring your breakfast to centre stage and plug the ingredients into our nutrition calculator and share how it compares to Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer. How did it make you feel? Did you notice an increase in energy or fewer cravings throughout the day? Tell us about it. If you already have a Vega smoothie each morning, tell us why and how it makes you feel compared to before you started.

How to enter: Take the Breakfast Challenge and post a comment, below, or to Vega’s Facebook fanpage.

Prize: A one month supply - two 15-serving containers - of Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer, a nutritionally complete, alkaline and easy to digest, natural health-optimizing supplement. Approximate retail value: $150.

Contest closes: Entries must be received by September 30, 2011 at 11:59 pm PDT.

Winner: Congrats to Andrew, the winner of our September Thrive Challenge.

My normal breakfast consists of whole oat groats with a couple of tablespoons of amaranth and

arame or hiziki sea vegetable over frozen blueberries.  I thought it was pretty healthy until i plugged

in the numbers and saw the comparison.  When i tried the smoothie i found myself feeling satisfied

with no cravings for the remainder of the day, with sufficient energy to take care of all of my daily

duties.  I enjoy the optimizer with hemp milk and frozen bananas, and even half of an acai pack.

Tastes too good.

I love the WFHO. I find that when I just mix it with water I don't always feel satisfied, because I like to have something to chew or something a little thicker, so I usually make a smoothie using 2 scoops of the WFHO, combined with frozen banana and blueberries and some rice milk. Other days, depending on my mood and if I'm feeling like a warm breakfast, I just have oatmeal with blueberries, ground flax seeds, and chia or hemp seeds, with a bit of palm sugar or maple syrup. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day!

I have not tried any Vega products yet.I am up at 4am most days so coffee is my breakfast at that hour. I don't eat anything till about 9am and that isn't always healthy. Looking forward to the challenge and having more energy.

I usually have 1/2 cup old fashioned oats with blueberries and raspberries or a banana with 1/2 scoop vega vanilla chai protein. Delicious. I have a hard time just drinking a smoothie I need the action of sitting down and eating to feel full! So mental. But I do agree when I have a Vega smoothie it keeps me energized and satisfied.

My typical Bfast is oatmeal with a banana and a little almond milk and coffee. When I took the Bfast Callenge (I couldn't get exact amounts due to the program but got a good approximate) my macro nutrients and fiber were higher than the Vega WFHO and my micronutrients were lower. It would be interesting to try the WFHO and see if I feel any different... more energy or fewer cravings... I'm amazed by all the added nutrients- greens, probiotics, B12 (esp. since I'm vegan), calcium & iron.

I have a Vanilla Chai WFO in the morning when I don't have time to make breakfast. I definitely notice more energy on days when I have vega products!

My breakfast swaps between WFO and conventional toast (it's my weakness!), although this breakfast calculator reminded me of how many more calories, carbs, and fat are in my almond butter toast compared to more vitamins, greens, probiotics, and protein in the WFO! Thanks for keeping me in check ... back to my smoothies I go! :)

I use the Vega WFO every morning :) I make a different smoothie everyday, and I use the WFO as a base. I love how it keeps me energized until lunch time. It has also really helped my digestion and overall well-being. I love it!

I love the WFO.  I have been using this for a while with my breakfasts.  I have used it primarily in smoothies with a banana, 1/2 c blueberries and water.   I love it.  I have both the chocolate and berry flavour.  My goal is to try them all.  I sometimes put a scoop of the chocolate WFO in my oatmeal when I am in the mood for something warm and comforting.  I love how it's completely balanced with nutrients so I know I'm getting a balanced meal.  I have found it refines my mental clarity for the day and sustains my energy throughout the day.

My weekday breakfast is a 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 scoop Vega WHO, plus 1/2 cup blueberries topped with cinnamon! I added the Vega in 2009 when I ramped up my training for the Boston marathon. I always thought it was great to start out the day knowing I was off to a great start on getting the vitamins, calcium, iron, protein  and healthy fats I needed to train hard and recover quickly!

I love Vega because it's easy, wholesome, nutritious, and tastes unbelievable. When I eat oatmeal or some other kind of vegan breakfast, I feel sluggish and congested. When I drink a raw smoothie infused with Vega in the morning, I have so much energy! I volunteer on a sustainable farm, so I need the energy to get me through the day!

Since starting WHFO I feel so much better, more energy and just brighter over all. The days when my daughter has a late class the night before I can't have my WHFO because the blender wakes her up :(   So those mornings it's cereal with rice milk and fruit. What a difference it makes on those days when I can't have the WHFO. I love it, tastes great, easy and really really good for me. Thanks Vega :)

Vega, Thanks for making the supplement I know so many of us have been looking for. I really do appreciate having a vegan supplement that doesn't make me compromise the rest of my nutritional commitments (e.g., it's tough to find a soy-free, vegan supplement that doesn't have sugar or, worse, artificial sweetener). Also, your Thrive recipes are my go-to when I want to assure non-vegan friends and family that I eat well.

By breakfast doesn't even compare nutritionally!  It is very impressive!

I mix WFHO with a frozen banana, a cup of almond milk and water. It gives the smoothie a thicker consistency.

I started taking the Complete Whole food product about three months ago.  It is a great nutritional breakfast.  I started with the Smoothie product aa while back and raved about it as I was very impressed with the ingredients and subsequently looked at some of the other products.  My daughter asked me why there wasn't anything in one pill to take rather than all the different vitamin supplements I have her take.  When I saw the Complete Whole food product and that it provides 100% RDI of vitamins, etc. from natural sources ... I thought this was great and started having this for breakfast.  I have been showing other interested people about the benefit of this product as well.  I really like the Chai with Almond milk - very thick and really tasty in the morning.  I am going to get my parents to take it as well - in their late 70's/early 80's.  I can see the benefit for them too, at any age!  I am just looking into the 30 Thrive!  Thanks for a great product!

I love starting my day with the health optimizer in vanilla chai - it gives me great energy and starts my day off right!

I have been using Vega Health Optimizer for 2 months. I saw the ad and thought I would try it, got the Thrive in 30 emails and loved the great tips and education they gave me. Bought the "Thrive Nutrition Guide" and am well on my way to the best health and fitness level of my life. I wake up with energy, sleep better than ever and have lost weight without starving myself! Even my hair and skin look better. Recently I saw a friend that I hadn't seen in 4 months and he said " I don't know what you're doing but keep doing it!" I don't need any more encouragement than that. I'm hooked!
