For some, it might be joining a running club or finding a training buddy to help you stay on track. For others, it could be keeping an exercise journal to compare how you feel before and after your workouts.

Previously I have used every excuse - the laundry needs to be folded, walking my dog is exercise enough, the stairs at work 5 times today are comparable to a sweat session. I'm too exhausted from my 1 hour 15 minute commute to and from work.  I need to cook healthy food instead of working out, I need to spend time with my family. Now, my excuse is that 4:30 AM, in the dark, rainy city is just too ludicrous to wake up and train or that the gym is too far away and since I already did Bikram yoga I need to rest.. I have a new thought process for this. The first? YES - 4:30 AM IS LUDICROUS, and I do it because I love it, because every morning I start with a 60 minute commute, to a 90 minute sweat session of Bikram Yoga, to a 5 minute walk to work, is a damn great morning. I am crazy, and I am going to embrace it. The Second? an at home workout, made by my trainer. When I get home, I say hello to my family and upstairs to change and workout before I even sit down. Eating clean will be possible b/c Sundays are my walk the dog 7.5km and cooking days. Clean food means better sleep, more energy, and better sleep. More energy is better training, better training = better body and mind.  Each week I complete all my workouts and eat clean, my treat to myself is another Vega product!

As a first year medical resident working up to 80 hours per week, my number one excuse for skipping a workout (running or CrossFit), is getting stuck at the hospital or clinic later than anticipated. My plan to avoid this going forward is two-fold: 1) workout before work, even if it means getting up at 3 am and lighting myself up like a Christmas tree to go for a run with my yellow lab (I always feel so much better, and sleep so much better) when I do, and 2) I am building a home CrossFit "garage gym" for home workouts when I miss the scheduled gym workout, or just to save time (and gas!) driving to and from the gym.

I will be starting school again in January and I know that I will try and use the fact that I have a lot of work to do to get out of working out.  I have been looking at ways to combat my low energy levels and this led me to changing my diet.  My plan is to clean up my diet and therefore have plenty of energy which will allow me to maintain and improve on my fitness goals while reaching my career goals at school.

I also have a dog and she doesn't let me get away with missing a work out ;)

Every morning the alarm clock is set for 4:00 a.m. ,sometimes I will wake up just before the alarm goes off and this little voice in my head will say "You don't have to get out of this warm cozy bed,stay..." Then the alarm goes of and I am zapped back to reality and I remind myself about that race in April called the Boston Marathon and I'm dressed and out the door.

I usually get to work about 6 am.  The gym opens at 5 am, this doesn't allow enough time to workout.  After working 12 to 15 hours I'm just to tired to exercise.  My husband made me my own gym in the basement, now my problem is motivation.  I'm competitive and social, I want other people around me.  My solution - join Vega news!  I am hoping to feel connected enough to will myself out of bed and into the gym by 4 am.  I did it when I was younger, why can't I do it again?  Are you in?

I live in Phoenix, AZ.  Unlike other parts of the country, I am forced to run on a treadmill during the summer months as the temp soars to 110-120.  I think the highest was only 118 this year.  So not only is my excuse it's too early, but it's too hot.  The only reason it's not so hot at 5:00 a.m is that the sun is not out yet.  The low temp the night before is 100!  Sooooo, my excuse as fall and winter approaches is almost the same......it's too early!  However, that makes it much easier to get motivated for a run because for the next eight months, I can sleep in on the weekends and go for a run at any time of the day because we are almost guaranteed a beautiful sunny day.  The only time I will be up at the crack of dawn to run is for two 1/2 marathons that I run each year in December and January.

I have a new baby. Well, I keep saying new baby but he is almost 6 months now. I try to arrange my exercise around his sleep schedule, my work schedule, and my husband's work schedule. This has not worked out very well for me. So my plan is to pick and time and do it. Get myself on a schedule. If I have to get up earlier, it will be worth it in the end. There are too many excused when I try and "squeeze" it in to my day.

I work in a remote mine two weeks in and two weeks out. Every other rotation is night shift. My excuse is "I have to catch up on my sleep" When I get home my excuse is "I just want to veg" "I don't feel like doing ANYTHING" "I've just done 14 days of nights" When I'm on dayshift I can stick to my regular routine at camp or at home with no problem. We have a well stocked gym at work so there is really no excuse not to use it. Even if I got up 45 minutes earlier I could still put in a good short but quality run but I don't.

This is my plan to overcome this. Transitioning from processed, over cooked foods and meats to healthy eating took changing my mindset. I now have to use that same energy to again change my mindset to getting back into my regular routine whether on dayshift or nightshift. "catching up on my sleep" is an excuse. An excuse that prevents me from optimum health. I can compensate that by going to bed a bit earlier. The plan is in place. Just do it!

I don't have time would be my top excuse.  My plan to overcome this is take a deep breath when this comes in my mind.  Then ask myself if whatever i think i should be doing instead of exercising is helping me to achieve my goal of good health.  99.9% of the time the answer is no.  So i will then get out and exercise since good health is one of the most important things to me.  Plus i know i will feel so much better after i exercise than if i skipped it!

My challenge is not about excuses for skipping out. I NEED to find excuses not to do so much. I am very much into what I do, exhausted, extremely busy or not.  My challenge is to chill - because I am into marathon tapering, and then recovery. Not sure I can handle that because I love being active. My goals for overcoming these challenges - more gentle yoga, read, spend quiet time with friends, get things done I've not done before. And meditate. Going into the marathon, will also visualize enjoyment and success.

My excuse for not excercising is my cat!  Everytime I leave my room, he meows (bellows) for me, so I really don't like to leave him too much.  He pretty much is a big baby and I coddle him.  Well, it is not just his fault.  He is Siamese.  They are known for being vocal and he lives up to the breed's characteristics.  So, that leaves me with the option of doing exercise DVDs inside the house, even though I don't like that as much as being outdoors.  However, Tommy (my cat) likes to go outside for a walk in the backyard and he wants me to go with him, so I get to atleast see the outside.  Winter in Florida is the best time to be outside, less mosquitoes and, of course, less scorching sun.

Winter in the Pacific Northwest is definitely not conducive to outdoor workouts. On days that I can't rally for a long run, I hit the pool and reward myself with a long soak in the hot tub after. But, if I do get out for a run, I warm up so quickly and the beautiful green forests ease my winter blues.

I don`t have time to ride my bike in the morning before work, it`s not an excuse just a fact. After work, I`m tired but if I don`t get on my bike and go I will head for the couch and the remote. My motivation is that I`m now 50 years old and if I don`t keep moving I gain weight which in turn makes me very unhappy. I either ride or roller blade everyday and when I`m out there I feel like a kid again. Being a vegan and eating healthy, organic plant based food including Vega products keeps me light and energetic. I just learned to use  clipless pedals on my roadbike this year. I`ve spent the last few months building up a road cyclist wardrobe. I love my clothes and shoes and of course my bike so I want to get out there and use them.

Excuses are tools of the incompetent!!!  I don't like exercise but I love what it does for my body!!! After losing 116lbs I refuse to gain it back!! I have worked to hard to go back, so I will exercise at least 5 to 6 days a week!!! No excuses!!!! We all know losing weight is hard, maintaing weight is hard, being fat is hard, choose your hard.

If I don't make the time for myself, then who am I to expect others too?  Working out is a way of telling myself that I am worth this, I deserve to feel amazing throughout my day from working out.  I have a picture right next to my bed so when I don't want to get out of bed it's there to remind me to "Make Yourself Fit" no one else can do this for me but me.

Best excuse... I'm too tired! (3 mth old and 3 yr old)... To overcome it, I've found a mom and baby class to go to while my older one is at preschool, and we all walk the dog together everyday, rain or shine, and I always have MORE energy on days when I have got some exercise!

I am a caregiver for my dad. He has Altzheimer's. I have also undergone chemotherapy. two mastectomies and radiation in the last two years. I had to take a year away from the gym. By the time I was starting back I was feeling very weak and tired. I am sure this contributed to the less than stellar attendance record. I would tell myself that I deserved the time off to rest. When I did go I would put in less effort than I was capable of. Gradually I began to understand that I was not benefiting from this point of view. In fact, it was detrimental to my well being. I read a quote somewhere that said if you don't decide to what to do with your life someone else will. Profound in its simplicity and impact. I decided that I would bring it to the party so to speak each time I go to the gym. Furthermore, I focus on how well I feel after my workout and that keeps me coming back. Sometimes I have to temper my enthusiasm so that I don't overdo. I am now on a journey to find out about plant based nutrition!

My excuse is always that it's too cold! Best advice to conquer the excuse: moving will warm me up and get everything flowing!!!!

In the winter, it's dark and cold when I get off from work.  I usually exercise after work but in the winter I get sleepy earlier.  I will join the gym at work so I can exercise before going home.

I used to be 156 lbs and on size 14 - that was 12 years ago. My trainer had me trained at least five times a week until I injured my back...I lost most of the fat, my size went down to zero for one year. I didn't know how to eat lean. Then, I gained back some of these weights. I am on size 6 for few years.  I can no longer loss any more weight, so I started to get frustrated and didn't push myself to work hard anymore. As the year go by, my weight went up to 140 lbs and my belly fat was still present. I didn't go to the gym that much because I didn't see real resutls. So, I give up pushing myself.

Beginning of this year, I finally had another very educated doctor who is also personal trainer to re-train me on both nutritition and exercise. After six months serious trainings, I learned how to eat lean with five small meals, eat protein on every meals and also on small portions. I use the techniques I learned from my trainer to do weights on my own. I now going to early morning weight training exercise at 6:30 for one hour twice a week and another day I join the first moring 6:45 group class at my GoodLife gym. Within two months, my colleagues and trainer notice the change on my body which indicates that I have lost 15 lbs. My stubborn belly fat finally disappears. My current weight is 125lb on a 5'5 tall person! Now,  I am working on getting my 6 pads! If you ask me how do I get so much energy from working out 6 in the morning three times a week and also have a 8 hours long full time job afterward? Vega is part of my workout supplemnets that give me the energy before and after. I like to thank for this wonderful product and recommend anyone to try it.

Whatever your story or excuse of not going to the gym isn't an excuse anymore. If you are really serious about lossing weights or meeting your goals, anyone can do it but you have to have a plan and set your mind to it. If I can do it at the age of 52 (looking like 39), what is your REAL excuses?

Thank you for reading my story,

Ellen
