November Thrive Challenge

Inspired by the lifestyle changes recommended in Thrive and Thrive in 30, the Vega Community is here to keep you on track, share in your successes, and inspire even greater change to help you achieve optimal health.

We’re looking for natural ways to boost our immune system this flu season. Health experts say it’s a healthy diet that keeps our immune systems strong. What are some of the best immune boosting tips, for those of us who are already eating a healthy diet?

For example, Chlorella is fresh water, single cell, green algae, packed with nutrients and is great for boosting our immune system. If taken daily, it helps to increase the number of “fighter” cells in our body, which defend against viruses, bacteria and toxins.

For the Thrive Challenge this month, we want you to share your tips for boosting immunity, for a chance to win a small tub of Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer AND a bottle of ChlorEssence!

More on Chlorella: Brendan Brazier chooses Chlorella as a daily body detoxifier. In this excerpt from, The Thrive Diet (Thrive in the US), Brendan states that “Directly enhancing the immune system at a cellular level, chlorella treats the cause of any possible breach – as opposed to fighting the onset of sickness (as is all too often done with pharmaceutical drugs).”

Did you know that one serving of Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer contains a daily dose of chlorella? Vega’s nutritionist, Peggy K shares more on the benefits of chlorella in this video on MyVegaTV.

I make a delicious chocolate puddng out of raw cocoa, chia seeds, reishi, chaga, maitake and shilajit, with vanilla, frozen raspberries and coconut oil.  No more flu shots for me!

I love to use fresh garlic, ginger and onions in my food and I use tons of all the super spices - cinnamon, coriander, cumin, turmeric..... And, I love green tea and mate!

I've added garlic to dinner every night (which is awful for my breath but great for my immune system), I use Jiagulon tea as the base for my breakfast smoothie instead of water, and I've added a tablespoon of lemon to my after supper ginger tonic.

I eat a large bowl of kale/spinach combined with garlic/onion and top it with extras that are high in Vitamin C (red bell peppers, orange slices, strawberries and grapefruit for a nice mix of sweetness and tartness) to help fight the onset of a cold and help absorb the iron. I also make sure to take my daily dose of Juice Plus (more info here: www.lizwithjuiceplus.com)

I have at least one, sometimes two, green smoothies a day. I rotate between kale, spinach, and romaine, plus lots of fruit. For liquids I alternate between almond milk, herbal teas, and filtered water. I always feel energized after I drink one!

I take probiotics and vit D, along with a high quality multivitamin everyday :) I drink a lot of green tea for the antioxidants, avoid touching my face during the day, and take collodial silver and vit C in high doses when I start to feel the slightest bit run down.

Well, since 90% of our immune system is in our digestive tracts, I try to make sure I'm eating super clean.  Mostly, I contribute my health the Vega's Whole Food Health Optimizer, since I've been using it everyday for the past two years I haven't been sick once!  I also drink more tea during this time or year, mostly green tea immune support tea.  If I do start to feel something coming on, I step up my dose of zinc for a couple days and usually feel 100% in no time!

I add HealthForce Nutritionals Truly Natural Vitamin C 500 Grams Powder to just about everything!! Especially my morning green smoothies & my Vega recovery drinks after a workout! I try to keep my hands clean (wiping down the gym equipment before & after I use it). And finally I try to get enough sleep & keep a positive attitude.

Thanks! Cheers to a flu free season!
