Having lost 80lbs and becoming an athletic vegan in the process, I workout no matter what the weather is. I don't want to return to that former unhealthy and unfit person that I was for so many years.
That said, I still go outside to run or bike during the winter. I just bundle myself up and get out there and go! If it is an especially cold day and I am having trouble getting myself to step foot outside the front door, I will turn to my workout DVDs. The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels workout DVDs helped me drop the weight, and they sure as heck can continue to give me and amazing workout all the while in the comfort of my living room.
No matter what, I do some sort of fitness at least five days a week, if not six. I may not feel like getting moving, but I know in the end that I will be more than happy that I did. Not to mention, that I feel accomplished for doing so!

I beat the winter blahs by moving everyday, regardless of the weather! There is always an option available such as going for a walk (bundled up of course), using a great workout video, walking on the treadmill or enjoying a day of snowboarding. The key is t take action everyday, even if it is only for 30 minutes.

If there is no snow and ice, I love to do a 20K run in Strasbourg with my daughter (at my speed!); if it's snowy or icey then a long walk with my two labradors. Indoors if the weather is just too bad to get out it will be yoga, stationary bike and we plan to buy weight-training bench this winter too. Lots of stairs in my house if all else fails - run up and down. Oh - and wood-hauling for the fires!

I do as much as I can to stay warm! Ballet class 5 days a week, power yoga and pilates, long, brisk walks and of course ice skating :)

I tend to turn to swimming, indoor climbing and snowboarding to keep fit and energized in the winter. Seasonal workouts are like seasonal foods; I'm always excited for the next season!

There are so many ways I like to stay active during the winter months. I am a member of a local gym so I participate in TNT Fitness which is a strength training/cardio vascular class that is 2 days a week, I also participate in Zumba which is a fantastic aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week. I run at least 3 days a week and am planning on continuing my runs even in the winter. When I don't feel like going to the gym I have a plethura of workout DVDs from aerobics to pilates and yoga. One major thing I am planning on doing during the winter is expanding both my yoga and pilates practices. I would really like to work towards being a certified instructor in both.

I love to snowshoe in the Winter. I spend an hour in the park everyday, after work, trailing around the trees and the kids playground. During the weekend, I go in the Gatineau Park where they have trails. It is a good way to stay in shape during the Winter months.

I like to do 30-60 minutes of yoga and then go on an hour long bike-ride. This is also my strategy for keeping warm! Best time is early in the morning, on weekends, before everyone is up and out.

I actually love to walk in the rain :) and I do video's in my bedroom like Nia, bellydancing and yoga.

winter? what winter? lol I live in sunny california. We don't believe in winter! If I drive a couple hours north though I can get all the winter I want. My favorite winter activities are snowboarding, sledding and dancing (when its too cold to go outside). These are perfect ways to burn tons of calories without even realizing it!

I love to power walk in the Mount Royal, ''the jewel of Montreal's city parks''. There is also a skating rink on top of it. I don't mind feeling cold, as long as I can warm me up and have a hot beverage afterwards.

For me nothing beats the feeling of a sweaty run on a cold morning - its like outsmarting the weather! If its icy or snowy, I opt for hot yoga!

Cross country skiing in a conservation park along with finding interesting skating rinks around the city or neighboring cities to skate on is my favorite sports to do for the winter

I recently bought a TRX, you can get an incredible workout in just a few minutes using your own bodyweight. I am also an avid runner and there is nothing like running early on a winter morning when the air is cold and you can see your breath. If it is motivation you need, signing up for an early spring marathon or half marathon is great motivation to get out there and exercise.

Hi all!

For the winter holiday my workout plans include completing my 7 week bootcamp challenge that will end in about 15 more days and then start working with my personal trainer to start competing in some local fitness shows. I've also grown to love Yoga alot! So after my challenge is over I plan to dedicate about a 1 or 2 weeks of personal Yoga sessions ONLY to stretch-out and elongate my body even more from all the High Endurance Athletic Training I have been doing over the past couple of weeks. I have included a video of my transformation over a 1 year process w/ training and VegaSport, please check it out and let me know what you think. I could not have come this close to success w/out VegaSport and the inspiration of others such as all you guys here at the VegaSport community and ppl like Lyzabeth Lopez and my trainer! THNX ALL!

Winter is usually when my swimming days increase, indoor pools are nice and warm on a cold snowy day. Also, as a student I can't afford the expensive ski hills anymore, but I think I might try for some snowshoeing this year; a great way to enjoy being out in nature.

Hot Yoga and swimming! I love the smell of chlorine on a snowy morning :) I'm getting to be more of an outside cold weather runner though, since I discovered how good the cold air feels when you take off your hat after you run!

i've recently started training for my first 5k! i've played team sports my whole life, but never was a big runner. in fact, running was my least favorite part of any team practice. i'm not sure what made me want to run for fun, but i'm so glad i did. i look forward to each day of running and seeing how much faster, stronger, and fitter i'm getting. i think i'll really enjoy having a new activity to get me through these cold months!

I was lucky enough to find a treadmill that someone never used and I placed it in my husbands shop, so I am able to run indoors, but can open or close the door depending on the weather. Even though it was dark out this morning, I sprinted down my driveway 1/4 mile and back a couple of times to get that outside feeling even more. I also am lucky enough to work where there is a gym, so I can lift weights on my lunch half hour. It's hard to fit in fitness with 3 children under 11 and a full-time job. I take what I can get.
