March Thrive Challenge

Inspired by the lifestyle changes recommended in Thrive and Thrive in 30, the Vega Community is here to keep you on track, share in your successes, and inspire even greater change to help you achieve optimal health.

 

Between work, chores and training for our next marathon, setting aside time for ourselves to think, reflect and simply be present is easily tossed to the bottom of our on-going “list.” Over time, holding ourselves to these demanding schedules can be quite taxing on our spirit and may even work against us - even hold us back from achieving our goals.

 

This month, we want initiate some spiritual spring cleaning, to feng shui our minds. The first step is to understand that what we think about, matters. Ask yourself, if our mind is cluttered, is it possible that we cannot then operate at maximum capacity?


Since our thoughts have a significant impact on our energy, we want to de-clutter and free our minds to attract vitality and happiness with ease.

I find music is a great release for me and it allows me to relax and free my mind. I like to listen to calming music before bed or if I have a really hectic day even in the car on my drive to work. I try to not focus on the stresses of rush hour traffic and start my day off right.

for the busy ones like me, that cannot do yoga each day, a quiet breakfast listening to the birds in the morning is great to calm the mind

How I Attract Vitality

I try to make time in my day, even just a minute, for quiet.

How I Attract Vitality:

 

First thing in the morning I focus in on my breath, making sure that I'm connecting it to all parts of my body. This sets up a clear reference point for the rest of my day, so whenever I'm feeling off balance or stressed, I come back to the breath - reminding myself that whatever I'm feeling now "too shall pass." Everything is impermanent.

The next thing that I do early in the morning is chant the "Gayatri" mantra, followed by a yoga sequence which allows me to fully enter into the consciousness of my body.
