I'm 50 years old and 35#s over weight (I'm 5'1")
I know all about healthy foods. I eat them, then add a bag of chips or ice cream. I want to break my junk food addiction, detox, eat with integrity - causing no harm.
I've been doing veggies, fruit and beans for under two weeks . Weight is not dropping off.

Hi Shannon,
Thanks for starting this group. I am 41 and have about 50-65pounds to loose. I thought I was basicly born a severe asthmatic but not hink it has been the food allergies that have plauged me all my life. I am not an athlete by any strech of the imagination. I am now however on a journey go get healthy and stay that way and to be a great example to my husband and son. I think that is what we should all be about .....right. I for one am tired of feeling like crap day in and day out.

Like Mitzi I am trying to stay away from the junk foods and also prepared foods - I want to take more time to cook whole foods that are healthy. I bought Brendan's book today - The Thrive Diet - can't wait to read it!

Hi! I have about 40lbs to lose. I have been trying for years, but I've had a few complications..emergency surgery, diabetes, endometriosis..... Couple that with working at Subway where I get to eat for free on shift. Upside is I never eat processed meats or chesses which limits what I'm having. As a type 2 diabetic I have also had to learn to stay away from the pop and desserts as they are a quick short burst of energy and then a big crash which is very bad for the body and prevents it from properly regulating itself.

One thing I have found out more recently, is that certain fruits and vegetables contain a lot of sugars. Even though they are natural sugars and easier for the body to process, if I'm not active enough - the body converts it into fat for storage.

I love fruit. Now I guess I have to learn to love the legumes?? LOL!!

Hi everybody I am 31 years old and I have been overweight for 29 years . I have lost 50 lb over a year and keeping it since. I have few advice for you , things that really helped me I think might help anybody.
Never start on a diet that you know that you can't keep up for the rest of your life . I think we all been at the yo-yo diet they don't work , I have been dieting for good 20 years it didn't do much good for me. All I did 3 years ago changed my lifestyle , changed bad habits to good ones , good nutrition , physical exercise and a good night sleep. I started as something I had to do to loose weight and be healthy but now it is something I want to do , I love to do and I will keep to do to the rest of my life. The way I feel and look today far more out weights the effort that I put in, words can't describe the difference between before and after .
One more thing that I think might help even more then the above is that NEVER STOP BELIEVE IN YOURSELF , no matter what you can do it I am living proof of that :-))).
Good luck everybody.
