20 Degrees here on a beautiful island in the Pacific! It's a great day for training & a great day for feeling well. Thanks for starting up this group Andrew!

Hello, Fellow Tri Vegas!
I'm the new kid on the block as I just found this group. I did Thrive for a while and then had to have hiatal hernia surgery for a pre-existing condition and was forced to change my diet for a while (still vegetarian but not vegan). That was a year ago and in the meantime, I have done my second, third, and fourth sprint triathlons (the good) and have found out that I am on the verge of osteoporosis (the not so good), due to a severe Vitamin D deficiency. I just purchased Thrive Fitness and am looking at trying again. Could you please share your experiences doing triathlons on Thrive and also your breakfast options? Lunch, dinner, and snacks are no problem but in the winter, doing a smoothie for breakfast is a bit well, chilling, so I prefer warm foods after a cold morning run. Thanks!

Hi Karen! Glad to hear you're on the mend! I'm with you on the need for warm foods in the winter. I rotate through oatbran, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, and millet cereals. I cook them with some berries (blueberry, strawberry) or apples or pears and add a scoop of Vega. If I don't have Vega, I'll use my own concoction of a scoop of hemp powder with some dulse flakes, maca, and chia seed. Also, good to have on hand is blackstrap molasses for iron + calcium. Garden of Life also makes some great Vegan supplements including their new grow bone line.

I'm a marathoner and a triathlete and have had all my best performances as a vegetarian/vegan. I finished over 13 events this year including 2 marathons, sprint, olympic, and half iron tris and am gearing up for my first full ironman. The diet is definitely compatible with some planning. A tool I love to use is Fit Day (www.fitday.com). Free online or cheap download. Allows you to track your nutritional intake very closely. Good Luck!

A nice warm way to get started in the morning is adding Vega Chai flavour protein to hot water or warmed almond/hemp milk!

3 weeks out from Ironman Muskoka70.3 and really looking forward to it. Promises to be a great race. Will be posting full race report afterward including experience with VEGA in my "A-Race" for this season.
