Was wondering if anyone has experimented in making homemade protein bars.
I tried a couple and here is what I came up with:
(For One Serving split in half for Pre-workout and Post workout)
2 scoops chocolate Vega Protein Whole Food Optimizer
2 tbsp raw sesame seeds (sometimes I coat the outside of the protein paste before I dehydrate)
1 tbsp. agave nectar
1 tbsp. raw cocao
2 tbsp. raw cashew butter or peanut butter (optional)
1 scoop of dried greens powder (for a green bar, optional)
1 tbsp. bee pollen powder
1/4 cup of sprouted buckwheat (optional and makes like a rice crispie crunch)
Water or coconut water to blend for a paste
Mix all together to make a paste and spread on dehydrator sheet into a 1/4 inch in height and in a square shape. Score it into four pieces.
Dehydrate on 108 degrees for 6 hours and then flip them off the sheet to turn over to finish on the other side for another 6 hours.
You can experiment with the ingredients to make it your own, like raw coconut, raw cocao nibs instead of the powder, fresh grated ginger, fresh mint leavees for a chocolate mint, switch out the Vega chocolate for vanilla chai and add in some raw almonds...you get the picture.
The main ingredients are the Vega Optimizer and water, after that it is your game.
Ya! Thats some power bar! You probably have some murderous workouts and that nutrition is key! I'm a real fan of the greens, in particular; Chlorella and Spirulina, in my post weightroom shake. It seems like its helping with the lactic acid??? I'm trainning with high intensity these days and have a hard time getting food down, so it's a couple dates or an orange then in 30 min or so, my Vega Sport Protein with a little greens in it.
Do you make a few at a time then?
