Permalink Reply by YOU KNOW YOU LOVE NC! on February 9, 2011 at 3:18pm Hey there, I have not had issues gaining or keeping muscle as a competitive muscle. I have found that consistency is the key. Lift heavy, regularly, and give yourself the proper supporting nutrition. You really do have to find what works for you. It's simple concept, that tearing down a muscle through weight training creates the microtears that allow for new growth. It wasn't until my 3rd or 4th competitive year of lifting 6 days a week, pretty much year around to feel like things were finally humming. As a guy, you should have a shorter time frame than that... Don't do any silly "bulking" diets, which are really just fat and inflammation typically that give you a bigger appearance. Don't rely on gimmicky supplements. Just increase your clean calories, proteins, making sure to get plenty of amino acids. Good luck
