share. learn. thrive!

Being too busy coping to remember to use your coping skills is like being SO busy driving that you forget to check the gas gauge or tire pressure or oil or...

But, hey, we've all been there.  So let's take a minute and remember what Brendan says about stress, namely that 60% of all stress is uncomplementary stress and that 70% of uncomplementary stress is related to nutrition.
When you do the math, you see that about 42% of all the stress we experience is related to nutrition.
Then remember that Brendan also says 80% of recovery is a matter of nutrition.  Now the way I figure it we don't just have to recover from working out, but we also need to recover from our rough and stressful days.

Those times when we're particularly harried is precisely when we're most likely to skip eating well and just go for some quick calories--that is, something we don't have to prepare and we don't have to worry about cleaning the dishes up from afterward.  But it's also those times when we're most stressed that we we most need and could most benefit from a good clean meal, smoothie, or bar.

In my quest to give my body all it needs to Thrive, I've recently added the Vega Shake & Go smoothies to my routine.  My favorite thing to do is to make a pudding using the Shake&Go and some chia seeds and either water or hemp milk.  What I've been doing lately is mixing up a double portion and leaving it in the fridge overnight, so that it's nice and cold in the morning.  Then when I get up, I've already got a couple of "snacks" prepared that I take with me and turn to for some quick green energy.

I'm still experimenting with the ratios, but here's what I've got so far:
1/2 cup of Vega Shake & Go smoothie
3 Tablespoons of Salba or other chia seeds (feel free to add more)
1 cup of water or hemp milk or other vegan milk
Shake vigorously or pulse a few times in your Magic Bullet, then pop in the fridge.

And while you're dealing with stress remember to have some extra Vitamin C.  Your adrenals will LOVE you for it.  Some fresh fruit is easy to take with you and eat on the go.

To Thriving!!!
