Is it feasible or advisable to use WFO as a breakfast, and dinner meal replacement while having a sensible mix of greens for lunch (if trying to lose weight)? I am new to this and want to drop from my current weight of 190 to 170. I am a 45 y/o male, 5'9, pretty athletic. However, I prefer to be lean versus husky.
Thanks from Honolulu,
Patrick :-)

It is very important that you eat solid food throughout the day so your stomach and metabolism do not get “lazy.” Many people do take the Whole Food Health Optimizer to replace more than one meal a day, however we always recommend starting off slowly and working your way up to multiple servings.
Drinking water is very important, especially since taking more than one full serving. If not enough water is present in your diet, you may experience cramping and bloating due to the high fiber content. As well, you need plenty of water to flush out the extra vitamins and minerals your body does not need. Because Vega is plant based, anything your body does not need, flushes out your system naturally.
Hope this information helps!

Thanks for the feedback Cierra. No worries on the drinking of water for me. I consume copious amounts of water everyday...:-) From the reading that I have done thus far on this forum, I will have my smoothie (once a day to start) in the morning, and lots of healthy dark green salads for lunch and dinner.
Also, I plan on buying Hemp seeds for a snack for a protein source as well as eggs. I consume tons of eggs, so I do not believe that I will be deficient in that area.

Permalink Reply by Karlee Diesing on September 3, 2011 at 9:58am I have 2 smoothies a day quite often! Usually I will have one for breakfast, then I will have some greens/grains for lunch. I always (as per Thrive Diet recommendations) have a good afternoon snack which usually consists of fruits/nuts/nut butters or maybe a raw energy bar. If I am busy and don't have time to make a good dinner, I will often have another smoothie with WFO for dinner. I always have greens in my smoothies, so I am not worried about vitamin/mineral deficiency. I do try to have something small on the side with my smoothie, so I do have some solid food. Sometimes I will have a piece of sprouted grain bread, or maybe a homemade muffin.
Unless a qualified nutrition professional suggests against having 2 smoothies a day, I will continue to eat this way :) I believe that whatever makes you feel best is what you should do! If your body responds well to what you are eating, then stick with it!
