Permalink Reply by Kyle Jeffrey Kranz on December 11, 2011 at 6:32pm I prefer the term, Plant Based. Honestly it is impossible to rid all animal products out of your life, which is how some define vegan. I define vegan as one who does their utmost to consume as few animal products as possible. I have consumed animal products a few times in the last couple years that I have been vegan, such as at Thanksgiving dinner when I did not feel like being that picky vegan who won't eat the potatoes because they have milk mixed in.
If you don't consider me vegan for that, then you can be that picky vegan :p
I'm a raw vegetarian due to extreme food allergies. Since I need to get the most nutrition out of food, I try to avoid cooking it. I was so glad to find the RAW lifestyle. I have since become a RAW chief and teach others about the RAW lifestyle.

Permalink Reply by Colleen Eren on May 24, 2012 at 5:40pm This is tough--"vegan" unfortunately is used by some as an elitist cult-like club where those who continue to eat honey are excluded. True veganism is an ideal that NOONE can ever live up to--it means not using/wearing/eating any products that involve animals/animal suffering. Truth is, by our very existence, we cause some form of suffering to some animal. We step on bugs (even accidentally), we wear clothing that is made through human suffering, we consume Soy products made by big companies (Monsanto etc.) who destroy entire ecosystems and harm humans. This is why I try to avoid the term. I am a strict vegetarian who tries to reduce suffering as much as possible.
