Should a pregnant women take ONLY the Vega Whole Food Optimizer everyday or add a multi-vit as well ?
Would taking the VWFO be equivalent to taking a whole food baby and me supplement (mega foods)?
I thank you in advance for you help,
christyn

Read through this discusion and I think you'll find that we agree it's ok to take both. Ultimately, you should make this decision with your Physician or OB!
I searched the product, Baby and Me supplement and provided the manufacturer (Innate Response) is a reputable company, it would seem to be a high quality prenatal Vit & min supplement. What I noticed is that at their recomended dose 180 tabs is a months worth at $60-$70, a little on the pricey side but if you could afford both Vega WFHO and the Baby and Me supplement then by all means take both.
The label reads off because they have the VitA amount at 10mg or 2500 IU so I'm not sure which it is. 10mg would be well over 30,000 IU or 2500 IU would be about .75mg that really should be clarified (it may be a webmasters typo??). If the case is that its 2500 IU (what I guess is likely) then you could take it with WFHO and still be under your safe 10,000 IU/daily.
WFHO would be a good alternative or can be combined with a daily multi. If you have both, put them at opposite ends of the day or take one or the other. You don't HAVE TO take both as one or the other with a well rounded diet would be suffice! I believe the WFHO to be a good choice because you're getting a full spectrum MEAL aswell as the full spectrum daily multi-vit.
Again, I urge you have this discusion with your doctor.
I wish you all the best!

Permalink Reply by Leah Reay on December 20, 2010 at 5:51am This whole discussion has made me feel so much better. I've been taking 1 scoop in the morning of the WFHO, combined with the prenatal vitamin. I checked the labels on the back of both and the levels of Vitamin A is not enough to do any harm. I would also like to add with my first pregnancy i felt lethargic all the time. Since i've been taking the WFHO with this pregnancy i feel amazing. I would just recommend to any concerned expecting mother to take the half dose and you should still reap the benefits. Thank-you Vega for making such an amazing product!!!

Permalink Reply by Catherine Dickins on June 19, 2012 at 12:45pm I am taking a prenatal vitamin and 2 scoops of Vega whole food optimizer daily, plus I eat a pretty balanced diet. I'm I getting too much Vitamin A. I'm 5 and half month pregnant.
Prenatal Vitamin A - Beta Caratene amount 750 mcg (2500 IU); Acetate amount 300 mcg (1000 IU)
Vega Whole Food Optimizer Vitamin A (palmitate) amount - 5000 IU
I'm super worried since I read an article that much vitamin A can cause birth defects in unborn babies.
thanks,
Sharon
