now a serving has less protein, less maca, less chlorella, and only 50% of vitamins and minerals- i'm disappointed as i mainly use this as a reconstruction meal after my recovery drink for intense work outs- even if i dbl a serving it still has less maca and less chlorella and i assume it will be the same price so if you dbl you will be getting 5 less servings a tub- i hope its 1/3 cheaper otherwise i'll be trying to buy up all the old ones

anyone else feel that we will be paying the same price for less?

the tub is smaller, the scoops are bigger, the product now has less chlorella and maca - basically to get the same benefit you will pay twice as much (b/c the price per tub is the same as it was before).

That's only because they've changed the definition of one serving. Keep in mind that with WFHO, one serving was two scoops.  With Vega One, it's one scoop.  Two scoops of Vega One should give you 100 percent, just like two scoops of WFHO did.

They say they did this because research showed that most WFHO customers only used one scoop at time, so they just changed their serving definition to meet the reality of how people were actually using it.

However, they also made the scoop itself larger, so you're using more with each scoop than you were with WFHO.  This is the main reason, I think, that some people are feeling ripped off.  The same price gets you less, net.

Still, two scoops of Vega One should have the same RDA as two scoops of WFHO did.

Or maybe people feel ripped off because the amount per container is soooo much less but costs the same. So you are now paying more per gram of protein!

The only way I would even think about buying this "one" is if the price were max $29.99

Hi CWFHO lovers,

Just a reminder before they sell out that iHerb is selling their remaining large containers of all 4 flavors of CWFHO for $45 USD.  So check it out at iHerb.com and please consider using my referral code which is:

KOR210

You will also receive $10 off if you spend more than $40 or $5 off if you spend less than $40 if this is your first ever order from iHerb.  Also free US shipping on orders over $20.  Not a bad deal.  At least you may be able to stock up to last through the year.

Thanks!

I can't say how disappointed I am.  I just starting using CWHFO on Monday, full serving for breakfast and a full serving for dinner, and I love it! I have a lot of food intolerances and have not been feeling very well the past couple months until this week.

Whole Foods had it so discounted I got suspicious, then I found this blog and now I know why. I bought two more large tubs and now I will be buying up all I can. I won't spend the money for ONE, not worth it. Costs too much for less. I need to double the serving each time. Maybe, just maybe, the company will read these posts and reconsider....one can hope.

Otherwise I will switch brands.

Got a recipe to share, Robert?

VeganEssentials.com is seeling the large tubs for $44.95. If you buy 2 or more add coupon code "vega10" and get them for $39.55.

"

Be sure to use this great coupon while it lasts, supplies are limited. We were fortunate enough to secure one more shipment of Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer, but once it's gone, it doesn't look like we can get any more now. So, if you're a fan of the original formula, get your hands on some of the last that exists for the protein that helped start a vegan revolution before it's gone for good!"

I am looking at alternatives as well. Unfortunately the bead counters took over this company. BUT, for those entrepreneurs out there, you have a ready market here.........

Those of you who are boycotting Vega One are most likely doing yourselves a favor since the new formula still contains a fairly high amount of preformed vitamin A palmitate (2500 IU per scoop/serving) which according to experts is exactly the amount needed to increase the risk of osteoporosis in both males and females by twice as much as those who's daily intake is less than this amount. It's the same reason why so many heavy milk drinkers experience hip and leg fractures compared with those who avoid milk and other dairy products fortified with vitamin A. I'm pretty sure it's also the same reason why so many people who took WFHO had been getting violently sick from vitamin A overdose/toxicity who experienced classic symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, etc. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone considering the old formula contained twice as much preformed vitamin A (5000 IU per serving). A representative of the company has responded to these complaints stating they will do everything they can to resolve the matter but so far it seems they haven't and they probably won't because they're clueless. My own theory as to why certain individuals got sick from WFHO is simply because they had a severe and outright deficiency of vitamin D which helps prevent vitamin A toxicity when adequate levels are stored in the body. It makes a lot of sense if you think about it. I've posted my concerns on this at veganbits.com. Here is the link for those of you who were unaware of this serious issue:

I hope the following links will provide more insight regarding the relationship between excessive vitamin A intake and osteoporosis:

http://www.natural-approaches-to-menopause.com/vitamin-a-and-osteop...

http://www.niams.nih.gov/Health_Info/Bone/Bone_Health/Nutrition/vit...

http://vitamina.org/vitaOsteoporosis.php

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15671709

Bottom line: It's important for anyone taking Vega One or any other supplement containing vitamin A palmitate, for that matter, to make sure you are getting enough vitamin D to prevent vitamin A toxicity and to get a blood test done every two or three months in order to determine if blood levels are in the ideal range. It would be a good idea to take a minimum of 2000 IU of vitamin D3 per day; especially during the late fall/winter/early spring months when vitamin D production stops and thus liver storage and blood levels are low.

Thank you Dominic for your comment on our Vega Community.  We take your concerns very seriously.  However, we have considered your concerns and please rest assured that our WFHO and Vega One are safe products that do not contribute to a risk of osteoporosis, and other adverse reactions you have suggested due to Vitamin A overdose/toxicity.

Our WFHO and Vega One contain 5000 IU (or 1500 mcg) and 2500 IU (or 755 mcg) of vitamin A per serving, respectively.  The amount of Vitamin A in WFHO is 100% of the %DV and Vega One is 50%.  You are correct that chronic intake of Vitamin A will contribute to toxicity; however, the amount for Vitamin A intake to cause toxicity is ten times greater than the RDI, that is 10 mg per day!  The symptoms for Vitamin A toxicity are not gastrointestinal in nature as you have suggested – symptoms for Vit A toxicity are actually loss of appetite, dry itchy skin, alopecia of the hair, bone and muscle pain etc.

Thanks,

-VegaCristina

Sorry but you are incorrect, Cristina. The symptoms of acute vitamin A toxicity are in fact nausea, vomiting, severe stomach cramps, headache, dizziness, etc. If you do a quick search online you'll see that I'm right. But the point I was trying to get across to everyone here is that vitamin A in any amount can be toxic depending on the severity of vitamin D deficiency. In other words, if someone had very low levels of vitamin D, it would take a lot less vitamin A (even as little as 5000 IU) before symptoms of toxicity became apparent. Both are needed in balanced amounts in order to function properly and to prevent the toxicity of either one alone. They work in synergy together as a team to promote skin, immune and bone health. Too much or too little of one or the other is not good.

I have to disagree with you Cristina.  I've been studying and researching vitamins over the past several years and Dominic is correct with his information.  I suggest you look into this a little further and pass along this info to the upper management.

Cheers

I caved and tried the chocolate Vega One because it was on sale at my Whole Foods for $54.99 with an additional $5.00 off coupon, so I felt like the price was sufficiently reduced enough to justify buying it. It definitely does taste better than WFHO, but I will never buy it at full price.
