Vega Community

share. learn. thrive!

After reading Richard's Coffe debate post I wanted to post one about alcohol and see what kinds of opinions I received from people in the Vega community.  A recent college graduate alcohol played a huge role in social interactions and continues to play a huge role in North American society.  When it comes to being social, having drinks on the weekend or health concerns what are your opinions?  I'm interested to hear replies.

Alcohol is bad for your health period. If you don't want to compromise your social life, that's understandable, but it's not "good"...regardless of what studies about the merits of antioxidants in wine say (BS to sell wine). I stopped drinking at 32 and despite having very high tolerance and never suffering from hangovers, I'm glad I stopped and only take sabbaticals for very special occasions like partying at the winter Olympics last year. My social life has not suffered at all despite the fact that all my friends drink. But I partied very hard in my teens/20's so I have zero desire to be at bars/clubs in my 30s. You may want to figure out your priorities. If you're young and want to party-it up, go nuts. The body is a resilient machine and you can reverse damage later. But no, alcohol is not good for you.
