My dinner is a big salad. I love it but I always want a snack afterward.. Is there anything that is good for you that I can eat while watching Youtube etc?? I know I shouldn't eat mindlessly, but if you had too, what would be the best snack after dinner?

Or do you know of anything, like a drink mix that I can add to water because I really just want to indulge in something, I am not actually hungry... In fact, I am not that hungry many times in the day but I eat an apple or something just because I am working a lot and I make up a reason.

Please help! Thanks

I like to make Lemonade when I would like a "drink" other than water. Water, lemon, and stevia. Pour it over ice, yum! Or, if you are looking for a sweet treat after dinner, you can make "chocolate milk" in a blender: rice milk (or nutmilk), ice, raw cacao powder, a squirt of agave. It's a cool treat (great for these hot days)!

Also, when I went to hear Brendan talk earlier this year, he said that the best food to have before bed (so in a sense, after dinner) would be something such as a fat (e.g., small handful of nuts). He said that one should avoid fruit before bed. (And certainly avoid fruit after meals, as it is digested way faster than other food).
I usually have a banana or two after my salad. They help satiate me :)
Lisa-- thanks for the lemonade idea, I am sure I will enjoy that. I do sometimes make nuts my snack, but I have trouble eating "just a handful" of almonds.. etc.

Erin-- I am really excited to try the ACV cocktail -- do you think this is healthier to drink than fruit juice?

I have been trying to cut back on fruit juice by making huge batches of green tea and I mix 100% pomegranate juice with it. I use that for smoothies at lunch.

Charlene-- I am sure that is better to eat some bananas after a salad than dried banana chips (they have sugar). Unfortunately that is what I was eating as I typed this last night. I think I will keep some bananas in the freezer so I have a reserve snack if I need it.

Thanks everyone for the replies!
Erin .. I love the apple cider vinegar idea .. jsut made a cup with just water ACV and stevia .. and it was yummy.. I have trouble with carbonation ao i opted out of the spring water .... and asd you said ACV is apparently good for many reasons.. and Braggs is apparently the best!!

Hi Jesse,

Yeah, I try to avoid high-glycemic index foods like fruit juice, bananas, dates and other tropical fruits because I find they cause a glycemic spike that leaves me constantly hungry and craving sugar. As well, ACV is supposed to have numerous health benefits.

I like to munch on shredded coconut in the evening.
Hi Jesse,

walnuts and sweet " ripe" apples, peel or not , cut in slices, the whole on a little plate...I ´d drink either tea or coffee, that´s it. Hope, you´l like the symphony walnuts and apples.
I love to snack on homemade Kale Chips. I do not have a dehydrator so I use the oven on 180 for hours until dried.

Ingredients
• 1 bunch curly kale
• 2 tablespoons Cold Pressed Olive Oil
• ½ cup Raw Parmesan, (I make extra I double it, I do this to my taste.
Raw parmesan
• ¼ cup walnuts can add some almonds, but mostly use walnuts
• ¼ cup nutritional yeast
• ½ teaspoon sea salt

Place in a small blender or food processor and process until a crumbly powder. Do not over process. Wash and stem the kale. Pat dry. Tear into 2 -3 inch pieces. Kneed a few minutes in a bowl. Add raw parmesean, save a little for panning step, and gently toss. Lay flat on a dehydrator tray lined with a Paraflexx sheet. Add a touch of sea salt if necessary. Place in the dehydrator at 110 degrees for 2-4 hours. Remove Paraflexx sheet and place chips on Grid sheet only. Dehydrate an additional 4-6 hours until crispy. Or lay on a flat pan and dry in the oven. (It's easier to use the oven)

This takes maybe 8 minutes to prepare and I make a very large batch to last a week or more. Enjoy.
