share. learn. thrive!

I joined this group trying to get SOMEONE in my corner. I am changing my eating habbits and I know that my family will dig their heels in the ground deep and I need some support. I love a vegetarian life style ...having lived it a time in my life. Since that time I have met a fabulous man and his family which I have married into. I love this family ....but our eating habits are different. I am going to revert myself back to a more "natural" lifestyle and I have a few questions for anyone who might be willing to help me...

First...I have many friends whose dietary practices are more carnavor in nature....live for animal protien.  They therefore take protein suppliments for muscle building. Now they have high cholesterol...HUMMMM ..wonder why!!!!? Can someone please give me, in simple language, the benefits for this plant protein so I may stand strong with my arguments/debate.  I plan on supplimenting it into my diet. I have initiated a workout routine to prepare for RAGBRAI this summer and I do not want to feel tired or weak during this transition. I have never used a protein suppliment before. I know and understand all about natural plant protein in my diet but want to add a bit more due to the physical demands I anticipate

Second, any suggestions on how to  have family support in this family of meatlovers...or just stand strong alone with this battle!!!!?  My husband will never live a vegetarian life style - never!  I will cook what he wants however,  I do want his support.

Thanks so much,

Colleen

Colleen, I may not fully understand what you are asking.  I think that the fact that we eat what we do because it makes us feel better should be good enough.
Thank you...and YOU are right.
That's pretty much hitting the nail on the head Cathy!!!!!! My family questions my wife (veggie) and I (vegan) about why have we stooped and you two are crazy! My answer is you eat what you like and we will eat what we like! End of discussion! Stand Strong Colleen! And Stand For What You Want!!!!!
