share. learn. thrive!
Hey! Okay, so I have always been a bigger gal (not obese, slightly overweight) and popped out of my mama's womb with thunder thighs! I have strong legs but still have a lot of fat especially in the inner thigh and back of thighs. What exercises can I do?

A great activity to add to your repertoire is Rebounding (bouncing on a mini-trampoline). From an article online: "Because of the increase in lymphatic system circulation, [rebounding] also works to tone and tighten the skin – like giving yourself a facial". (It is also amazing for toning all over your body!!!)
I bought a mini-trampoline from Canadian Tire for about 40 bucks and I bounce every morning for about 10-15mins. There are many books and articles that discuss benefits of Rebounding (and every naturopath I've ever been to has highly recommended it and every "cleanse" book that I own discusses it too). Google "Rebounding" and you can find lots information about it.
PS. Don't buy a "REBOUNDER" from any of the companies selling one as a "Rebounder Kit" (they charge an obscene amount of money). Just get a mini-trampoline from CT or another sports retailer.

HI!
You can do exercises to strengthen the area, but you can't use them to spot reduce fat there. For example, you can do abductions and adductions of the thigh which will make it way stronger, but not leaner. To get leaner we require 30 minutes of continued heart rate elevated exercise like biking or rollerblading, jumping rope is also a really good thing to do. The only other cheating way that's very effective if you want permanent change there and are otherwise healthy is to see a naturopath for mesotherapy, it will spot reduce, it takes about a month to see the difference, it works.

Hey Maria,
No, I haven't used a DVD before. I'd be interested though! I just rebound for a while. Sometimes I listen to the radio, or watch youtube raw food videos! :) I hope you enjoy doing it!

Permalink Reply by Lisa on April 27, 2010 at 7:00pm Awesome Maria! Isn't the rebounder a great workout? I wish you lived in Canada too! But keep bringing the Thrive to the Dakotans! :)
Maria,
It just occured to me there was a previous discussion about saggy skin with a few tips that may apply. Frances Worster suggested MSM cream...apparently this has benefits for reshaping skin by detoxifying it locally. Yes the rule is that you can't spot reduce, but exercises to tone specific areas and a cream to detox the skin may influence the skin to tighten up. MSM has been well documented as a detoxifier of conective tissues allowing collagen and elastin formations to rebuild. Also Keep the areas you want to see improvement warm, so as to keep adequate bloodflow to the skin. A few Ideas??
