Hello Everyone!

I just recently started a new office job besides my busy schedule of training and working out!
I have found my back getting very sore now everyday even though I am still exercising, stretching at the same rate and just started hot yoga to try and help it. As the office is every busy I don't really get a chance to sit up and stretch!? Anything anyone could please recommend besides eating my VEGA at the desk ;)

Thanks

Kelsey,

I went from a very active job space to working in front of a computer alot. Some tricks I found helpful....I get up every hour and walk somewhere, anywhere. To get water, to go to the bathroom, walk to the copier...whatever. Also I went to Gaiam.com and I got one of those balance ball chairs. They are $99 and they specials alot for 20% off. They force me to keep my posture in check and they are also a nice tool for stretching. I asked my boss before I got it and she knew a happy and healthy worker is a productive worker, so it wasn't a problem.

Another thing I do is set my alarm every hour to not only walk but to remind me to drink water and take at least 5 deep breathes. It is very refreshing. And then some other obvious things...not wearing heels (eventhough I so love them) and staying hydrated.

I hope this was helpful. If you figure out any tricks I would love to know them.

I can completely relate to you on that, Kelsey. I've been working a desk job a few months now and that was the first thing I noticed too. I try to make sure I give myself a few minutes whenever I can to do some stretches or go for a walk. It's not a great fix, but it helps!

One more.....Google Yoga at your desk or yoga at the workplace....lots of these sights give reasonable stretches to do at your desk that dont draw toom much attention. They can make all the difference. Here is one I found.

As I write this, I know I should listen to my own advice. I really try to make a point of going for a walk at lunch time. Just 20 minutes, even 10 if I'm short on time, helps to refresh and stretch. WOrking a desk job really makes those morning/evening workouts that much more important! Congrats on the new job too!

to strengthen your shins, simply sit in your chair with good posture and keep your heels on the ground while lifting your toes to the ceiling. move your foot/feet like a hinge up and down without letting your midfoot or toes touch the ground...you should feel a burning sensation in your shins after only about 20 seconds!
the more you do it, the longer you can go without feeling the burning sensation!
