Loving Vega in the A.M., but crash in the afternoon

I have my vega in the morning, and an energy bar mid morning. I feel awesome. I have my lunch ( usually a bean burrito and salad) and a smoothie or another energy bar around 2pm. Right about 3 I totally hit the wall and am ready to go to sleep. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried adding another long term energy meal into your morning. You schedule is similar to mine. I have my Vega in the morning on my way to work, my comute is about an hour. I add the Whole Food Health Optimizer to my Vita-Mix (food procesessor) I usually add some fruit and veggies to it to add a little more fuel. Before I leave the house however I also have about a cup of Steal Cut Oats (I prepare a weeks worth usually on Sunday so I can just nuke it in the morning. This is the old fashion oats the ones you cook for 20-min or so). About an hour or so later I have my Vega, then two hours after that I have my next meal (consists of oatmeal, yogurt and some thawed frozen fruit/or fresh fruit). About two hours later I am at the pool and I have made the energy bars from the Brendans book (again I make a weeks worth and store them) then when I am at home I have a really big salad. If I am hungry during the day, or when I am getting ready for bed. I eat whatever nuts I have with some honey. Litterly nut's and honey.

I don't know what your nutrition needs are. I am training for Ironman, I work, and I try to have some sort of social life. I find that as long as I keep up with the plan and follow a decent amount of energy every 2 hours, I am good. The times I feel that I tank are when I miss my oatmeal. It gives me alot of long term energy. It is a slower release of energy rather than a fast burst that could be leading to you crash.

Don't know if that helps. It just sounds like you need a little more good long term energy. Probably earlier in the day
1. Are you eating something that is spiking your blood sugar? (what's in the energy bar?)
2. How about water? Are you drinking enough?
3. I find that If I'm lagging, a quick walk and a piece of fruit (apple, grapes, watermelon) help 100%. Sometimes I do LONG afternoon commutes and if I'm nodding off on the highway (!) I'll stop at a farmer's market and grab a snack. The combination of moving my body and some simple carbs make a BIG difference
4. Then one more dumb question. You are sleeping enough at night right? Right?
Wow thanks for all the helpful comments. I used to have a lot more protein (whey shakes) as I was trying to put on muscle and thought this was the way to go, and my carbs were lower than they are now. Its the vega energy bars that Im eating, so Im wondering if im having too much quick-release carbs like David said and need more slow-release stuff. I drink a lot of water and sleep atleast 8hrs a night no problem.
