Vega Complete Whole Food Health Optimizer seems like such a great product. I'd like to take it everyday, however the high iron level is a bit of a concern. The Food and Nutrition Board recommends men and older women intake no more than 8mg a day. Some sources say 0mg is preferable as we ingest enough iron in our food. Excess iron cannot be disposed of by the body, it builds up. Too much iron leads to health issues. Vega contains 18mg of iron!
Hopefully Vega/Sequel take this into consideration, and perhaps comes up with a new iron free formula. I'd encourage you to actually review some of the other vitamins/minerals that can be damaging to the body if someone takes too much of them. Apparently taking excess vitamin A, E, D, and K can also lead to serious health problems.
Surely something like Vega should supplement a healthy diet, not provide everything that a person needs and then some. Most people will be eating two or three meals a day and will merely be supplementing their diet with Vega. Would this not put them way over their recommended daily amounts for all vitamins and minerals?
Thanks for your consideration of this issue.
