How Can I obtain B12 If I do not eat any meat since eight month?

I am worry because I am new vegan and I do not eat any meat since eight month, so I could have a nutritional deficiency in vitamins B12. The doctor said to me I can eat organic chicken three time a week to prevent deficiency but I don't want eat meat because meat has hight cholesterol also and I had hight cholesterol before I started my plant food as my diet. Three month later I lost 30 pounds and my cholesterol and sugar were normal without any supplement. I am using the vega whole food health optimizer just two month ago to prevent any deficiency. Am I on the right way? How can I obtain B12 without supplement? Thank you.

Hey there!

With the Vega WFHO you'll be fine. But if you want to go straight to the source, use Chlorella. Its a unicellular algea which has naturally occuring B12. Nutritional yeast also has B12. They are part of my staples. Some supplements are also available, but there are no needs for that if you can have all the nutrients from a neatly planned whole food diet. Supplements should be taken only when there are severe problems which need enhanced correction efficiency.

Hope this helps!

I have read that nutritional yeast has a high concentration of the B vitamins. You might want to research it a little, but it is definitely worth looking into it! Also, it is realllly tasty - almost like parmesan cheese! There are lots of recipes out there (and a few in the thrive diet book). I am not sure if you own it, but there is a recipe for a nutritional yeast/sesame seed topping.
Also I agree with Pam... If you are eating a balanced/colourful diet, you should be good to go :)
