Permalink Reply by Liz Voth on January 5, 2012 at 2:11pm I don't know the physiology behind this, but I can speak from experience. I have been vegan for some time now. In July 2010 I became sugar free (still occasionally have agava sweetened raw desserts or gluten free items) and in the spring of 2011 I became gluten free. This all helped to shed some 15 lbs, but that last bit of weight mainly in the belly was still there. Now I've succeeded by eating mainly Thrive Diet recipes and the occasional three day juice fast to also reduce my belly. Some days it's practically not there - that's a first for me in 40 years. I'm attributing it to the nutrient dense, high fibre and appropriate oils in the Thrive Diet. Anyone else who can tell me what's helping to seemingly change "cellular/molecular" structures - hence less belly fat (??), I'd love to know what's happening and how I can further encourage it.
