Though not completly new to a raw diet or cutting out meat from my eating plan i find that sudden cravings send me diving for a chicken sandwich or plate of baked pasta....any tips on becoming more disciplined or is this natural and i maybe shouldn't fret...............example- i managed to eat raw for approx 2months (ok i know that's no time to brag about and there are people that have been raw for years) i then spent a two week break in greece consuming probably a carnivorous meal every other day!! Are some people pre-determined to give into cravings quicker than others?

Hello Nicky,

Depending on your typical daily diet, it might take from months to years to get well installed in a vegan raw diet. A tip would be to add elements of organic vegan raw foods to your normal diet, and eliminated the elements in which you want to get rid of, slowly and as you feel ready to do so. Some discipline is required, but straining yourself rigid discipline will make you fall back into crazy cravings and start back to 0. Feel it when your body no longer needs the bad stuff, and then let it go. This way you go with the body, not against it. Check your stress levels too, as your body might want stimulants rather than nutrition.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Robert for the good advice...you're right in saying that cutting out too much too soon can turn me a little stir crazy so i'm sure the anecdote "one step at a time" should be typed and stuck to my fridge door and not just the stairwell :O)...... thanks for taking the time to reply.

I think it can be tricky eating vegan if you're doing it purely for health reasons. I watched the film Earthlings and can honestly say I can ever imagine eating animal products again, never mind craving them. I know going raw is different as normally based on health reasons but if you can tackle going vegan, then raw is often just another step along the path. Good luck! :-)

(I also agree with the above advice to start slow and steady, don't give yourself a hard time as this only makes things worse)

Thanks for replying Sarah, true, health reasons would be a major consideration for me going vegetarian/vegan but i too truely understand the horror some of us feel when confronted with the horrible suffering imposed on the animals that humans consume.......at times i do consume meat products but try to only buy meat that has been ethically reared, no gold stars i know but it's a start!....When i was eating raw for a while i did get daily compliments regarding my eyes looking clear and, (wont say younger that sounds a cliche), well just healthier!! so i am aware of the advantages!!!!!

Thankyou again, Nicky
