Hey guys
I bought the vega whole food optimizer
The first couple of days I put 2 scoops into my smoothie (2 cups almond milk, 1 cup frozen berries, 1 banana, 1 cup spinach)
It was going fine until the 3rd day when I got pretty gassy however the big problem was I was almost completely constipated...I woke up the next morning feeling nauseous (and ended up throwing up like 10 times and finally ended up being able to go to the bathroom
Should I be taking this in water (as opposed to almond milk)?
I also ended up only using 1/2 a serving (1 scoop) and the constipation still happened!
Please help
Thanks

Did you end up substituting Vega with some other normal morning meal?
Also, have you had any other sudden diet changes recently?
Yeah I'm just using 1/4 of a scoop and blending it with 3 cups of water
I'm still constipated though...lol
Nope, I haven't changed my diet I had only started adding vega to my smoothie

Hey Tom,

Sorry to hear you had this experience! As you may know its always hard to pin point what may be doing this or what in it that's bothering you. With my optimizer I Always use the water portion and sometimes a few ice cubes but as well I do put in pretty much everything you listed above but with Rice milk or Soy milk. Haven't tried the spinach though. Try still putting in the regular scoops amount with the regular water amount and play with it from there. Sometimes the water can be lighter on your stomach and help better digest then the source of milk! Good Luck!
Sorry to hear you're feeling this way! Digestion can be a pain sometimes. Kelsey might be right, I've read a little bit about digestibility of different proteins in your stomach simultaneously and you might've been impeding it by adding 2-3 cups of almond milk. Does your diet contain common allergens and is it maybe lacking in some solid weight to help push your mostly liquid start to the day down? Lastly, maybe you're allergic to something in it?
hmm...that does seem abit odd, mainly that almond milk can aid in stopping constipation from occurring.
What i would recommend is that you minus the banana out of the smoothie for now, and see how things go from there.
It may also be that you are ingesting mostly soluble fiber and not enough insoluble fiber. Try including more whole-wheat products, root vegetables, seeds and nuts into your diet. It may take a few days to notice any difference, but it should help.

And if it does not help, you should try and see your doctor.
Come to think of it, I actually just remembered having this issue with Greens+ a couple years ago when I used to drink that stuff. Then I remember reading the Greens+ package which said you have to drink it on a flat empty stomach right when you get up in the morning and to wait about 45 mins - 1 hour before eating anything else. Scientifically I have no explanation for why that is, but I do remember that fixing the problem after having similar side effects.
A couple thoughts/suggestions on this subject...

With all the added fibre you get in two scoops of Vega HO, you may just need some extra water throughout the day to help keep things "moving."

You may also want to consider starting with a smaller serving size - even as small as half a scoop and then build up to the full two scoop serving as your body cleanses.

There are extra details about all this in our product info.

Hope you're feeling better!
Kelly
Hey guys thanks for the responses
I've been adding 1/4 of a scoop to my smoothie every 2 days , I was also drinking alot of water
The constipation was alot better, so I recently tried 1 scoop
Unfortunately that made me constipated again...I guess I'll have to do 1/4 every 2 days then 1/2 every 2 days before considering 1 scoop?
Thanks

PS. Before Vega I was getting alot of fibre (I'd get it from my fibre1 cereal and vegetables) so I doubt that's why
I didn't ease myself into taking Vega.. I bought it and right away started 2 full scoops daily for breakfast in a smootie with 1 and 1/3rd cups water, and around a cup of mixed frozen fruit (peach mango strawberry) and never had this problem. And my diet previously was pretty horendous..

In fact, in the last month and a half, ive missed just bowel movement.. I go once a day since taking vega!

Now you all know my bathroom habits peeeeaceout
