Can you recommend a Vega product for my husband?

Hi,

My husband heard about Vega through a health food store. The salesperson recommended Vega Sport, but after doing some research on this product, I'm worried this (Sport) isn't the best thing for him, so I need some advice.

Here is what my husband is looking for:

Some sort of natural herbs/vitamins/supplements that will reduce stress and keep his energy level up during the day while at work.

My husband has suffered from depression, but is not currently on medications right now. Ideally, if any of the Vega products could help fight depression as well, then even better!

Also, my husband is not an athlete - not even a little. He does not work out at all,nor does he plan to, so this is why I'm thinking Vega Sport is not the right product for him. Plus, he tries to stay away from caffeine, natural or not.

Also, he is not a vegetarian, but is very interested in the Vega brand nevertheless, so if someone could tell me the best Vega product to help him, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

HI Chantal,

Personally I would recommend Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer for various reasons. First of all, a full serving a day in the form of a shake will provide your husband with all the vitamins he needs. Also if he is stressed, his adrenals are most probably depleted and the Maca in Vega WFHO will help nourish his adrenals to combat adrenal fatigue. His depression may have had many causes but if he has some nutritional deficiencies this never helps either so he would benefit from addressing the nutritional side and see if his symptoms lessen.

The product is made with no known allergens (no soya, no dairy, no corn, no gluten etc) so the full effects of the products (anti-oxidants, maca, chloressence, etc) and the high quality plant protein will be easily absorbed by the body. Just one note of caution, start having the product in small doses so your husband's digestion gets used to the amount of fiber in Vega and increase to a full dose.

I also don't think Vega Sport would be the right thing for him. It certainly gives people a boost but it stimulates the adrenals rather than nourish them and because he is in a stressful condition I think that Vega Whole Food Optimizer would be a much better fit.

Anyway, that is just my suggestion.
Bye for now

WFO all the way. I'm really surprised that the salesperson recommended the vega sport for his requirements you have outlined.
Yes WFHO. The flavor can intense for some, I recommend blending it with a ripe banana and some berries, a little water and maybe some ice - play around with different flavours to make it fun and not simply "healthy". It may still have a gritty texture, but ah well. WFHO is a truly wonderful product. The salesperson was totally wrong to suggest Vega Sport. To me WFHO is the "foundation" product. If a person does nothing else for themselves, they could use this and see/feel a difference! Depression is not always caused by diet, but it can certainly be exacerbated by it! Ensure that he is getting his omega fatty acids too (Vega does sell an oil as well), as that can have a dramatic effect on people with depression, ADD, etc. And yes, the maca can do wonders for the hormones and adrenals.
Maybe if he starts feeling a little better, he can be talked into adding a touch of activity? A walk or floating in water? That could also help with depression. But, one thing at a time: WFHO
All the best!
Keep us posted!
Thanks everyone for your sugestions. We will definitely be buying the WFHO. Now, be honest - is it really gross if we just mix it with water and drink it? Or should we just always mix it with fruit, etc. to drink it in a yummy smoothie?

Also, which flavour is the best? We're deciding between the plain or berry.

This is a meal replacement, right? It is not meant to be taken along with a full meal, correct?

And it can be taken any time of the day, as it does not have natural caffeine like the sport drink, right? So if we take it in the evening, we won't have any problems falling asleep that night?

Also, are there any online coupons to purchase this?

Thanks again for your help!
Hi Chantal,

WFHO is not at all gross, but for some people can be an acquired taste! I recommend using half the serving in order to get used to it, and increase from there. Also, it is best in a smoothie (even with just a few berries and some water/ice), and is also good with things like almond and rice milk. Water and mix will do in a pinch!

WFHO is meant as a meal replacement, but depending on lifestyle, activity level, and amount of food you normally eat, it is whatever your body is comfortable with. It is a great way to optimize weight management if you are using it as a meal replacement.

It does not contain caffeine like Vega Sport, and can be taken at night; Since it is considered a meal replacement, it might effect sleep if you've found that late night meals do.
