I have been vegan for about two years now and started using Vega and following a Thrive related for about 6 months. Since then my health, vitality and strength have shot through the roof. I recently finished the 6 week Thrive Fitness Training Program. I am a goal oriented person so my question to you is "what next now that I've finished the program?" This question mainly pertains to fitness and fitness goals. Thank you!!

I have only been using the products approx. 2 weeks and I am concerned about weight loss. I am not a large person I suppose, I am 5'2" and 103lbs. I would prefer not to loose any more weight if possible. Is there anything I can do to prevent this. I really enjoy the products and the benefits I feel from using them. Just trying as I said to prevent any more weight loss if possible. I am always snacking :)
Thank you, Linda
Permalink Reply by Scott Collins on April 24, 2011 at 11:39am I've been working out (strength) training for several months now and recently (2-weeks ago) switched to a plant-based diet and use Vega Health optimizer as a supplement. I have noticed that my strength is not what it was before. For example, I was deadlifting 285 lbs 12 reps now I can only do 255 8 reps. Single arm dumbell military press is down from 45 10-reps to 35- 8 reps. While I am leaner ( I am 5'11" 182 lbs down from 187 lbs) and feel better, I am a little discouraged by my strength loss. Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem? Also, how much protein does one need (grams/lbs body weight) assuming that you are lean and not overweight.
BTW just turned 51 years of age
Thanks

I'd love to hear more discussion around effects of alcohol and coffee (specifically, decaf). It's hard to get a straight answer since the studies seem to be contradictory. Some say coffee and wine, for example, are a great source of anti-oxidants. Others say a cup of red wine help keep blood pressure down. I realize both arguments are kinda moot if one is following a plant-based diet, anyway.
But both types of beverage are obviously enjoyable. Any room for these in your diet, since enjoyment can equal reduced stress, or are the long-term effects a net-negative in the sense they're life-shortening or performance-decreasing?
thanks!
Permalink Reply by Jane on May 15, 2011 at 11:33am Hello,
I just learned of this company today. My question is: Is Vega nutritious enough to be a food replacement over a long period of time? If so, how long would be the maximum recommended period? I am interested in more than just a meal replacement, if there was reasonable assurance that it was nutritionally sound.
Thanks,
Jane
Permalink Reply by shoshana sadia on May 18, 2011 at 1:18pm I have read all the products reviews and the thrive diet books aswell. I wondered if it would be possible to contact Brendan himself with some sport and nutrition specific questions, I will ask you anyway and perhaps someone in your team will be able to enlighten me.
So I exercise pretty much daily with high impact Interval training lasting between half hour and an hour..
I currently have the dates or figs with lemon and coconut oil pre exercise or one of the vibrancy bars, as outlined in the thrive book and post workout I have a product called pure synergy which is a combination green powder , probiotics and enzymes with sprouted seeds and medicinal mushrooms.. I drink this with a green juice such as kale apple and celery and add 1 tablespoon of sun warrior protein powder, or a tablespoon of hemp seed powder and a tablespoon of ground flax... However I have ran out of the protein powder and now I will be living on the road for a couple months without a fridge so will not be able to use the flax or hemp anymore for protein as they both require refidgeratioin..or the fresh fruit/ vegetable juices..
I have also just purchased the smoothie and go mix and the whole food optimizer , could you tell me firstly can both of these products be use in conduction with pure synergy as I really love this drink and allows me to consume all my greens during a hectic lifestyle...and which one should I consume post exercise...
Secondly there will be a period of a a week or so where I will not get the opportunity to workout due to work commitments... So which product is best for me to drink then as I usually prefer to drink my shakes in the morning usually post exercise but in this case it will just be a breakfast
booster....kindest regards

Permalink Reply by Shawn T on May 18, 2011 at 6:14pm I have just stated using WFHO with great results. One concern. I am in law enforcement and notice hemp protien as an ingredient. I have found reports stating that there is no chance of this producing a positive drug test for thc as long as the hemp is of the type that produces very low levels of thc.
Your thoughts and thank you in advance.

What is your take on oils? My dillema is that I want to continue using small amounts of olive oil for salad dressing, and use coconut oil for cooking (both organic cold pressed). I'm going on 3 weeks of a 100% plant-based diet and love it, but I'm reading so many advantages/disadvantages on this subject and would greatly appreciate your response.
Sincerely,
Daniel Reeves

Permalink Reply by Brian on June 29, 2011 at 6:48pm Hey Brendan,
I have recently been thinking about making the change to raw/vegan diet. My current diet is horrible (lots of junk/fast food). I am signed up for an Ironman race in 4 months. Is it safe to completely change my diet with an Ironman race approaching?
