share. learn. thrive!

I have been battling thinning hair (at a pretty young age). I follow some of the doctor recommended commercial remedies, but are there vitamins or nutrients known that I should be taking that target healthy hair growth or anything. It would feel good to know that my diet is doing all it can to help.

I am not a physician, but I read a lot about supplements and take a variety of them. I've read that Omega 3's are particularly important for hair (reduces inflammation) as are the B vitamins (biotin and B12) in particular. It is sometimes difficult to get enough B12 in a vegan/vegetarian diet. There are many B12 supplements out there and I would recommend a sublingual type. Also, be sure to get enough zinc and other minerals.
Bobby,

The first thing you have to look at is your parents....here is one you can blame them for... :) hereditary hair loss can come from either parents side of the family so think of who else may have it, Mom, Dad any aunts or uncles. Hereditary hair loss can start as early as ones teens and there is little that can be done for it outside the conventional dermatological treatments. If you dont think its hereditary then you should examine your diet for adequate protein, iron, silica, copper, zinc and B vitamins and maybe even make sure your getting ample glutamine in your foods, plus MSM is important for building protein (specifically Keratin).

Stress can cause hairloss as can diabetes and hypothyroidism...when was your last checkup? Have your blood count, blood sugar, Thyroid and B12 levels checked. Thats about all your bases short of looking at some herbal remedies like Ginko Biloba which helps circulation to the extremities (scalp) or Ginseng which is supposed to keep you anabolic.... Nature's Plus has a formula called; Ultra Hair...I regard nature's plus to be a fairly decent supplement company and they claim this product provides all the nutrients to stimulate hair growth, yet i have not tried it or know anyone who has.

The cheapest method would be to go totally Cojack brother ...no more hair washing or buying pricey hair care stuffs...clean and streamline :)
Hi Bobby,

I can tell you from personal experience how much eating a diet of mainly fruit & green smoothies has repaired my hair. It is strong, thick, soft & shiny :) My mom has started eating more raw, because she saw these effects on me. Her hair is looking like mine now, & she looks 5 years younger!
